Gold 2 was the designation of a BTL-A4 Y-wing in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic. It was flown by Tiree. The fighter was equipped with custom high-power lateral thrusters that gave the craft improved maneuverability which allowed Tiree to successfully draw and evade enemy weapons fire.[1]
Gold 2 was destroyed by Darth Vader during the Battle of Yavin as Tiree attempted to provide cover for Gold Leader Jon Vander during the first trench run attempt to launch proton torpedoes into the Death Star's thermal exhaust port.[4]
