The Golan Ribbon tanker was a model of refueling tanker active in the Rebel Alliance naval forces during the Galactic Civil War. They were typically used to carry and provide fuel to starships in the middle of space while moving, due to the Rebellion's need to maintain secrecy in their operations. Tricky procedures to complete, one such Ribbon tanker was stationed over the planet Turkana to refuel rebel vessels, where a rebel task force was under secret assembly, ultimately triggering the major Battle of Turkana as a Galactic Empire squadron ambushed the rebel starships.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Golan Ribbon tanker was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in the thirty-fourth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series,[1] published around August 26, 2015.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Golan Ribbon tanker was originally introduced in Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide,[3] a 2014 reference book authored by Daniel Wallace and published by becker&mayer![4]
