Gnarlgourd drums were a type of musical instrument made from a piece of bone held above a circular stand. The drums were made by members of the Lanai species on their homeworld of Ahch-To, and the Lanais who inhabited the Caretaker village of the Temple Island there owned one.[1]
Behind the scenes
A gnarlgourd drum was created to be a part of the film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi;[1] however, the scene it appeared in was ultimately cut before the final release.[2] Despite this, the instrument still appeared in Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo[1] and released alongside the film on December 15, 2017.[3]
