The Gligger system was a part of the Ash Worlds sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Battle of Gligger[3] was fought in the vicinity of the Gligger system.[4]

Behind the scenes

The Gligger system was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-7.[2]

The Essential Atlas and Galactic Cartography: Official Discussion (post by jasonfry) on the Jedi Council Forums' Literature board (October 12, 2008): "I'd call Gendrah-Narvin and Erhynradd star systems -- I err on the side of star systems unless there's evidence to the contrary. (In reply to: "Jason, is Gendrah-Narvin a city country, star, or planet?")" (backup link) Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, co-authors of The Essential Atlas, stated their intention to create the approximate locations for numerous events based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Battle of Gligger in relation to the Gligger system.
