The ginntho, also known as Utapau spider,[2] was a large species of spider native to Utapau.
Biology
Ginnthos lived in the deep caves of Utapau and were equipped with six spinnerets, capable of producing durable silk. Domesticated ginnthos were commonly trained by the native Pau'ans to spin silk on command.[1]
History
A ginntho in the caves of Utapau
Shortly before the Battle of Utapau[3] in 19 BBY[4] several ginnthos were seen roaming the staples of Pau City,[3] the capital of Utapau.[5] Ginnthos were used to create elaborate traps from their silk to ensnare invading battle droids[1] during the Separatist occupation of Utapau near the end of the Clone Wars.[6]
Behind the scenes
A miniature version is seen on Dagobah.
