Biography

Involvement in Star Wars

"I was surprised to find that I was one of the few people that you were actually going to see her face—and in a lot of scenes, sometimes the only face, which is pretty incredible."
―Gina Carano, on being in Star Wars[3]

Carano played the role of Dune for two seasons of The Mandalorian.[4] She participated in The Mandalorian Panel during Star Wars Celebration Chicago and announced her character as Cara Dune, a former Rebel Alliance Shock trooper.[5] Carano first appeared as Dune in "Chapter 4: Sanctuary," which depicted Dune meeting Din Djarin while hiding out on Sorgan,[6] and she made her final appearance as Dune in the second season finale, "Chapter 16: The Rescue."[7]

Employment with Lucasfilm

"The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future."
―Lucasfilm statement in 2025[8]

On February 10, 2021, Lucasfilm issued a statement via multiple media outlets regarding Gina Carano, denouncing her recent political posts on social media for "denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities" and stating that the company was not employing Carano at the time and had no plans to employ her in the future.[4][9][10][11] On February 6, 2024, Carano filed a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm, citing discrimination and wrongful termination.[12] On August 7, 2025, Disney, Lucasfilm, and Carano announced that they had reached a settlement over the lawsuit, with a spokesperson for Disney and Lucasfilm stating that the relationships between Carano and work colleagues was always kind and respectful and adding that the companies expect to find opportunities in which they could work with Carano again.[8] Carano thanked her supporters and said she looked forward to the future, with her desires remaining in the arts.[13]
