"Gathering Shadows" is a short story by Kathy Burdette that details the experiences of a Rebel commando named Jai Raventhorn and a freelance mercenary named Dirk Harkness sharing a cell together after an Imperial interrogation. The story takes place on Zelos II in 4 ABY, two months after the Battle of Endor.
It was originally scheduled to be published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 16, but the Adventure Journal ceased publication before it could be featured, so it was later published in Tales from the New Republic by Bantam Spectra in December 1999.
