"But we want excitement!"
"Ah, but you will have excitement! The thrill of watching as a gas mine treaty is negotiated."
―Jempa and C-3PO[2]

A gas mine treaty was watched by multiple younglings at the Senate Building,[2] prior to 21 BBY.[1] The younglings had just returned from a field trip to the Outer Rim Territories, led by Jedi Grand Master Yoda. After landing at the Senate Building, the youngling Jempa complained that the group wanted excitement. C-3PO, who was acting as the younglings' tour guide, stated that there would be excitement, as the younglings would be watching a "thrilling" negotiation of a gas mine treaty.[2]

During the treaty, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine pulled the hood of his cloak up and down repeatedly, scaring the senators present in the Grand Convocation Chamber as a joke. Later, Han Solo, under the guise of "Ian," interrupted the treaty, causing several repulsorpods to begin colliding with one another.[2]

Behind the scenes

The gas mine treaty first appeared in LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace,[2] which first aired on Cartoon Network on July 22, 2011.[3]
