The GB-III was a hovering droid used by the Galactic Empire to protect the corridors and walkways of the Death Star in 0 BBY.[1] They were vaguely spherical and could move incredibly quickly.[2]

Luke Skywalker, just prior to rescuing Princess Leia Organa in 0 BBY, encountered these droids while exploring the Death Star.[2]

Behind the scenes

The GB-III appeared in the 1987 Japanese Star Wars game.[2] Their name was revealed in the Japanese language guide of the game serialized in Family Computer Magazine.[1]
