Fourth Fleet

The Fourth Fleet was a numbered fleet within the naval forces of the Republic Military, and was commanded by Jedi High Council member and Jedi General Plo Koon.[4] The Fourth Fleet included General Koon's[5] small battle group,[7] consisting of three Venator-class Star Destroyers, including Koon's flagship, the Triumphant.[3] The Fourth Fleet was part of the larger Open Circle Fleet.[6]

Created in 22 BBY,[2] the Fourth Fleet was one of multiple Republic fleets scrambled to counter the Confederate Subjugator-class heavy cruiser, the Malevolence. However, despite its efforts, much of the Republic Fourth Fleet was lost to the Malevolence,[1] including Plo Koon's fleet during the Battle of Abregado.[3] The Malevolence was eventually destroyed during the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula by the Open Circle Fleet.[8]

Behind the scenes

The Republic Fourth Fleet was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2021 reference book Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Fourth Fleet originated via mention in 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.[9]
