Wine barrel (talk - history - links - logs)
I don't know if this is a candidate for a speedy deletion, but it may be. It's only a real world item - nothing particularly unique about it IU. So it's mentioned in a novel as a sizing analogy... so what? - Esjs(Talk) 19:08, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Keep
It doesn't really matter if it's a real-world item. If it exists in the SW universe, it deserves an article. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:03, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

- "Barrels were cylindrical containers. Wine was sometimes stored in them. Kyle Katarn, Revan, the Jedi Exile, and their companions frequently scrounged for items stored inside barrels. Their bottoms could be scraped." —Silly Dan (talk) 20:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Comments
- I would usually have to agree with Toprawa's reasoning, but it was mentioned only just for the sake of an analogy. I'm all for hyper-inclusionism, but we must really think: on this Star Wars wiki, does it need to be here? —Lucius malfoy7

- Why not? Even if something's only mentioned, it still gets the {{Mo}} tag. We have several articles on analogy-items, perhaps the most prominent being St. Elmo's fire. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:15, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I really wish Wookieepedia had an official policy on articles about real world items. I'm no hyper-inclusionist, but I'm resigned to the fact that Wookieepedia will include articles about real world items. So, I'm OK with those articles as long as there is something that can be said in them that makes them different from a Wikipedia article in an IU way. Otherwise, why don't we just copy a whole bunch of Wikipedia articles about real world items over to Wookieepedia (copywrite issues aside)? I just want a line drawn (policy) on what is acceptable or not in Wookieepedia for real world items.- Esjs(Talk) 20:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I completely agree with Esjs. This revision is a good example of hyperinclusionism: somebody created redlinks for every noun in the novel! If this would be done for every source present, then we'll soon have more articles about Earth subjects than about SW-unique ones. The line must definitely be drawn there.
