Unidentified Wookiee-hugging Ewok (talk - history - links - logs)
This is just one of several non-notable UI Ewok pages that were created with only a single sentence to ambiguously describe each of them. The issue here is not whether or not it is UI, so voting should not be based on the lack of a proper name. However, without proper context, there is no notability. Additionally, sourcing guidelines were not met on any of the UI Ewoks, including some with descriptions, such as "ugly-looking," "sick-looking," "chicken-headed," etc. These references were not officially identified and were subject to the interpretation of the author. If more than just a passing reference can be made (allowing for more than a single sentence description) to identify the context of the character, then the article ought to be kept. However, as it stands presently, I feel that articles such as this have too little to add to the quality of the Wookieepedia. —GethralkinHyperwave 08:20, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

- If sufficient context were added on the significance of the Rebels' introduction into the tribe and the forthcoming Battle of Endor, the article would be far more than a single-sentence description. His hugging of Chewbacca is significant enough that I'd probably redlink him if someone were FA'ing Chewie, and the variety of fur colours and accessories among the Ewoks in ROTJ is enough that giving them each their own article would be along the same lines as giving articles to background Cantina characters like Unidentified man with pig nose. - Any character who appears in the six films, no matter how minor, should have a place in our Wiki. The exceptions are the millions of CG-copy-paste battle droids, clones, and Wookiees from the prequels. But for the OT, this should be a non-issue. ~Savage

- I agree with Bob's statement. This is a Star Wars encyclopedia. We should try to include as much as possible. I've stopped making unidentified articles because I get carried away, and was told to stop, but still. I would agree that it's not necessary to have an article for every random Ewok, but at least this one's not some random background Ewok--I mean, he hugged Chewbacca, shouldn't that be notable enough? We would need to expand this article, though. A bit too short. --The Lampshade... (talk) 21:26, September 13, 2012 (UTC)Lamp774
- This wiki needs more Chewie love. 501st dogma(talk) 21:32, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
- My only beef is with the name. This Ewok isn't hugging some random Wookiee; he's hugging Chewbacca! After some expansion and a rename to "Unidentified Chewbacca-hugging Ewok," this article will be just fine. Trak Nar Ramble on 21:39, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, it's me! 03:12, September 14, 2012 (UTC) - I will go with the majority as I was on the fence pending a vote, but I still feel that the article needs more than just a single short sentence for a description. Context is a must to allow for identifying a character—especially one that is UI—in the chronology. As an encyclopedia, the WP should allow a person without sufficient knowledge (however hard to find that is) of Star Wars history the needed points of reference to place the character. Not to mention that the character might even have its own article already as pointed out below. —GethralkinHyperwave 15:25, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

- Are we sure it isn't an already-existing Ewok on here? Corellian Premier

- That is a very good point, CP, and one that (in my extremely limited spare time) have been trying to find out. —GethralkinHyperwave 15:15, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
- I just checked through them all. This guy's unique as far as I can tell. ~Savage

- I have not been able to find this particular Ewok anywhere else, either. In this case, it would actually be beneficial to keep if the character's context was expanded to differentiate from all other background Ewoks. —GethralkinHyperwave 01:50, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Be our guest! It is an encyclopedia open to be edited by anyone, after all. :) ~Savage

- I was actually going to wait (unless someone else does it first) until this Tc gets archived so I could just move the article as per my suggestion below. —GethralkinHyperwave 06:53, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- That works. But I'd suggest maybe "Unidentified white-faced Ewok" or "Unidentified black-and-white-furred Ewok" rather than simply "black-furred Ewok," as there are lots of black-furred Ewoks in ROTJ. ~Savage

- I would also recommend that the article be moved to Unidentified black-furred Ewok to tie the Ewok to a description of its own physical appearance rather than just to a particular event. This Ewok may appear elsewhere in the film, after all. —GethralkinHyperwave 02:01, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
