Template:Confirm-battletitle (history - links - logs - delete - protect)

{{Confirm-battletitle}} serves a similar purpose as {{Confirm}}, in that it warns that an article presents an unverified name as canon, but is specifically for articles about battles and conflicts. I do not see why articles about battles need a separate template for such a purpose when {{Confirm}} would do just fine. Maybe there is an argument to be made for a separate "This article's title or topic requires confirmation from the listed source(s)." template for all non-character articles, but, until then, methinks this template should be retired.

This is my first TC thread, so forgive me if this is not proper procedure, but if this vote passes, I think {{Confirm-battletitle}}'s Category:Articles with unconfirmed titles should also be retired and the articles within be placed in {{Confirm}}'s Category:Articles needing verification. Per Imperators II's suggestion below, should this vote pass, I also propose that Category:Articles with unconfirmed titles be moved from the maintenance category for {{Confirm-battletitle}} to {{Confirm}}. Not only is {{Confirm}}'s current category, Category:Articles needing verification, titled nearly identically to {{Verify}}'s Category:Articles in need of verification, but the category name "Articles with unconfirmed titles" is simply a much clearer name for {{Confirm}}'s purpose on articles with unverified names presented as canon.

Also, for the sake of clarity, I did ask over a year ago on the template's talk page what purpose it served, but since no one replied, I figured there would be no harm in bringing it to TC.

  • I agree entirely with Confirm-battletitle needing to go, but I believe that "Articles with unconfirmed titles" is actually a much better option for the category, especially given that the name of Confirm's "Articles needing verification" is extremely similar to {{Verify}}'s Category:Articles in need of verification.
