Restaurateur (talk - history - links - logs)
This seems like an unnecessary article. —Unsigned comment by Jedi Master King (talk • contribs)

- It needs a BTS section but is otherwise valid, appearing in a canon source and all that. Corellian Premier
All along the watchtower 18:11, February 10, 2012 (UTC) - A valid canon appearance is good enough for me. Getting rid of this might lead to getting rid of all professions, like Pilot, Crime lord, Medic, Doctor, etc etc. <-Omicron(Leave a message at the BEEP!) 18:16, February 10, 2012 (UTC)

- Someone slap a picture of Dex on there, maybe find a few more EU examples, and I think we're good to go. DD97Which bear is best? 16:35, February 16, 2012 (UTC)
- We are supposed to keep a record of everything in the Star Wars galaxy as if it were recorded in that galaxy, per the MOS. Articles come from an IU POV. The citizens of that galaxy do not know that certain things also exist on Earth. If we are to follow the MOS, then we must have articles on such things, as a databank in the GFFA would have this entry. MasterFred

- I think such articles are useful and I have added a bit more Star Wars specific information to the article. --Eyrezer 19:26, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

- Then I suppose you should put Chair, Hat, Pants and others up for TC consideration then. <-Omicron(Leave a message at the BEEP!) 18:18, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
- Find something unique about Star Wars restauranteurs and they can stay. Shirts are unique, we don't have plastic shirts that go "boop" and change color. Pants are unique, we don't have pants with stripes that are so important you can kill someone who wears them without earning them. Hats and chairs, we might could kill. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 18:34, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
- I have added that restaurateurs used meat from the MiOrd hunting business on Gamorr. --Eyrezer 19:26, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

- Rule of thumb I've gone by: if it differs in Star Wars from the real-world usage of the term, it should have an article. This does not differ. —NAYAYEN 18:13, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
- Per Nayayen and Culator. —MJ— Council Chambers Friday, February 10, 2012, 18:29 UTC
- We can't go and make a page for every English noun or adjective that appears in Star Wars publications. Nayayen's rule of thumb is good. graestan(talk) 18:37, February 10, 2012 (UTC)

- Per Culator. In answer to Fred's comment, Restaurateur does not differ from the real world one in any sense that I can see. Something like fire, however, can have its own article since there are things related to fire that are different from the real world.—Cal Jedi

- We seem to have two schools of thought on this sort of thing, and we should probably have a CT for a general rule. One camp thinks that if we know it exists in Star Wars, it should get an article. Another, like Nayayen, thinks that only those earthly things that differ in some way from their earthly counterparts should get articles. I agree with Nayayen with the exception of creatures (like dog, cat, weasel, canary, etc.). But this article meets neither exception. ~Savage
