Mechanic's Academy (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
This page exists, in essence, because of one character lying to another. Badly. Having a page for the "Mechanics Academy" Kaz claimed he went to is the equivalent of making a page for the "Skywalker Academy" Ahsoka made up as explanation for her skills in "Deal No Deal": pointless. Since Kaz was lying, we don't even know if such an academy exists! SilverSunbird (talk) 02:06, May 28, 2020 (UTC)

- Kaz states he worked as a mechanic on Coruscant, to which Tam responds he must have studied at the Mechanic's Academy; she's the one who brings it up. Therefore it's likely it does exist, since Tam would know, as a mechanic. RattsT (talk) 02:26, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- If you watch the scene, Tam obviously (and with good reason) doesn't believe that Kaz has ever been a mechanic before and is clearly being sarcastic, and he rolls with her suggestion as a rambling attempt at a cover story. SilverSunbird (talk) 02:33, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- I think you're severely misinterpreting the dialogue. Tam seems pretty obviously aware of an actual Mechanic's Academy (the page should be moved, though, to include the apostrophe per the subtitles), and doesn't believe Kaz actually graduated from it. She's not being sarcastic. "You expect us to believe you graduated from the Mechanic's Academy?" That's not sarcasm. That's a legitimate question. I'm voting keep and move to "Mechanic's Academy." - There's probably a better alternative than outright deleting the page, maybe redirecting it to the pirate attack section on Kaz's page since it originates from that episode? --Lewisr (talk) 02:24, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- I don't know. The only real connection this topic has to the pirate attack is that they're both from the same episode. SilverSunbird (talk) 02:33, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- As a further point, and as I stated above, watching the scene in "The Triple Dark" where the "Mechanics Academy" is mentioned, Tam is clearly responding sarcastically to Kaz's unconvincing claim that he's worked as a mechanic before and he decides to roll with it. This further weakens the case for this page's continued existence, as there is still no real evidence that such an institution exists. SilverSunbird (talk) 02:33, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- In context, she's criticizing his skills as a mechanic. It doesn't seem like she's making up the Academy, it's more like she's stunned that a buffoon like Kaz could have graduated from there. RattsT (talk) 02:39, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- Something we disagree on, then, since it sounds to me like she's criticizing his nonexistent skills by snarking about him having gotten any training whatsoever via that line, instead of claiming that such an academy exists. We don't even know if Tam has ever been to Coruscant, where the academy is allegedly located since that's where Kaz said he was from. Just because Tam is a mechanic doesn't mean she knows everything there is to know about where to get training for it. SilverSunbird (talk) 02:47, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- Luke had never been off Tatooine, but he knew about the Imperial Academy. There's just no evidence she's making it up. As Fred said, I think this just comes down to a misinterpretation of the dialogue. RattsT (talk) 02:51, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
- Tam is portrayed throughout the entire show as being very intelligent and knowing a lot about the industry and her profession. The fact that it's a proper noun in the subtitles, should be enough to keep, and aside from that, I'd argue that it being unclear would be an argument for keeping the article, as it's better to keep an article we aren't clear on if we know it's at least considered a proper noun and named than to delete it. It's a legitimate search item because of this dialogue. Master

- One more thing: if this page stays, perhaps it ought to either be moved to slang or be more clear that this place may not be real. And that's if, as Tam's propensity for sarcasm makes it entirely possible that this place is not real in-universe. SilverSunbird (talk) 03:06, May 28, 2020 (UTC)
