Mandalorian Joke (talk - history - links - logs)
Having an article on I have a bad feeling about this is one thing, since it is an oft-repeated line that is one of the most famous of all Star Wars quotes. But this one just goes too far; not only is it speculative (there's no evidence it's patterned on the Spike Milligan joke}, but the quote is inaccurate as well (it's actually a dialogue between Revan, Lashowe and a couple of unidentified Sith students.

- Thank the Force it doesn't mention the popular "hunter joke" of the same ilk.--Goodwood

- Happens only once; notability is certainly speculative. Can't the dialogue just appear in an article instead of getting its own? Graestan(Talk) 11:35, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

There may be a page that this "joke" could be merged to instead, but what page that could be escapes me at the moment.—Unsigned comment by Goodwood (talk • contribs)
- If there are errors, correct them. If the obvious connection is presented as fact without proof, reword it. You should focus on the part actually worth considering: is a joke notable enough to warrant its own article? (Also, I felt sure we'd had a vote on this once already, but I can't seem to find any evidence of it.) -- Ozzel 05:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't want to go the notability route because then the hyperinclusionists would start whining. It seems that Trash Compactor thread starters just can't win for losing, eh? In any case, no, this is not a notable subject for an article. Now that I think about it, this could be merged with List of references to Star Wars in television.--Goodwood

- Epic meh to the "fix it" and "focus on this" crap. From reading Goodwood's presentation of it, I was able to gather the subtle question of "is a joke notable enough to warrant its own article?"....FROM JUST READING BETWEEN THE LINES...and my answer was "no". Goodwood's was too, apparently, hence this TC. FFS, this whole arrogant "if it's not spelled out this way or that, I'm going to assume the worst and attempt to embarrass someone" crap is really getting old, especially on these TC's and elsewhere. Greyman(Talk) 12:10, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- I never felt he was trying to obscure anything; I was simply suggesting that he focus on that, as it is a valid point, rather than try to push insignificant and easily fixable problems as grounds for deletion (as has been done previously "on these TCs".) -- Ozzel 19:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Since it's pretty much between you and Goodwood, from what I've gathered from IRC and elsewhere, why not have a one-on-one chat with him about it, on talk pages or via Wikia e-mail? The TC ugliness is really just bad form, and makes everyone come across negatively. Furthermore, matters of opinion cannot be described as "valid points" or "invalid points." Graestan(Talk) 22:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Did I kriffin accuse anyone of "obscuring" anything? No, I don't believe I did. What I did say was that I read between the lines, and got the gist of what this TC was about...my post was pretty clear about this arrogant BS that is the trademark of some. Leave the personal crap with Goodwood off of the TC and CT, etc pages...if this was one of your "buddies", would you have even bothered to comment? No, you would have looked the other way, not commented, etc. But whatever hardon everyone, including you and others, have against Goodwood needs to stop cause you guys are the only ones who are looking like idiots. You and others think that you are able to fool everyone in IRC and elsewhere on this site, but it's so damn clear what your guys agenda is most of the time. If you really want to "stick" it to Goodwood, even though others were/are able to read the between the lines and think for themselves with regards to this TC, then vote Keep, say your piece in your vote, and have the balls to be done with it. I'm through with this crap unless others point it out to me that it's happening elsewhere on the site, which I had no friggin doubt will happen, especially given the subtle back stabbings that go on everywhere. I'm sick of this, and a spade is going to be called a spade from now on, at least by me. I'm kriffin glad that I'm only able to access the site every once in a while now, so I don't have to subject myself to a daily dose of this school-yard drama anymore. - Maybe we should calm down a bit, and discuss this in IRC or on the involved users' talk pages. This irrelevant digression ends now. --Imperialles 13:25, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
