Major General (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
Unfortunately, "The Rise of the Rebellion and the Battle of Yavin" presents several contradictions regarding Cassio Tagge's military rank. In the French edition, General Tagge is specifically called a Major General and Grand General during the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, while the American version establishes him as a Grand General and High General. The UK edition calls him a Grand General as well, and simply General in all other cases. Previously, both Major General and High General were ranks that existed only in Star Wars Legends, and so far Major General is only mentioned erroneously by "The Rise of the Rebellion and the Battle of Yavin." As such, the canon page of Major General should be deleted, as there is no correct source for it. --Vitus InfinitusTalk

- Spanish version also uses "Gran general" and "Alto general" (Grand General and High General) so I think the French version is the one in error. Rsand 30 (talk) 11:42, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Hmmm... strategy... strategy, lategy, bategy... Aha!
I have it! You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee!

- I'd argue that this page is not the very model of a modern Major-General :). Jarhead002 (talk) (he/him) 22:16, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

- If it only appears in a single translation of a source that uses Grand General in all other translations then it should be noted on the source's page and Tagge's but doesn't need its own page. Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:03, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

- Unless another official source has stated that "The Rise of the Rebellion and the Battle of Yavin" is in error, Wookieepedia does not have the authority to dictate that it is an erroneous source. - JMAS

Comments
- Is it correct to say that "Major General" has not actually been identified verbatim? Loqiical (talk) 11:27, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- That's correct, it's mere translation as well. The rank in France doesn't actually exist, but it's equal to what most countries have as a two-star general, which would be a Major General. --Vitus InfinitusTalk 05:49, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- Probably irrelevant, but in France, a Major General isn't a rank, but a function held by a General (usually 4 or 5 stars) assisting the Chief of the Defence Staff (the military highest leader, himself a 5 star general), whereas a Major General in the US is a 2 star general. Note that the star system is equivalent in both armies. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 12:36, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
