This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page or, if the page was deleted, in the Senate Hall rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was Redirect to Galactic Alliance Guard. Tommy Macaroni 17:31, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
GAG trooper (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
There is no reason to have this as a separate page from Galactic Alliance Guard. - JMAS

Yeah, this feels like specific type of soldier v. Organization they belong to. Fan26 (Talk) 17:21, August 5, 2019 (UTC)01miki10 Open comlink 17:49, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
Redirect to Galactic Alliance Guard
- To me, this doesn't hinge on "Well, we have Stormtrooper Corps and Stormtrooper, so we should be doing the same here too" as much as whether there is enough unique information separate from the organization article to warrant having separate pages. The information on the GAG trooper is limited and much of it is redundant to what would already be in the organization article, so I think we would be ok just grouping them together. Moreover, this should absolutely be a merge situation, not an outright deletion, as the term "GAG trooper" is used in the LOTF series and thus should be maintained as a redirect. - We have separate pages for Stormtrooper and Stormtrooper Corps, as well as Jedi and Jedi Order. JRT2010 (talk) 08:03, August 3, 2019 (UTC)

- My initial reaction to this is that Galactic Alliance Guard is an organization whereas GAG troopers are members of the organization. There was a Senate Hall discussion about whether Jedi and Jedi Order should be merged, and it was decided to keep them as separate pages. If we can have one page about the organization and another page for its members, then the same can and should be done for GAG. JRT2010 (talk) 16:03, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
- What happens for one page doesn't mean it should be that way every single time, it depends on each situation. If they are like stormtroopers being part of the stormtrooper corps, then I don't see why the page couldn't exist --Lewisr (talk) 16:10, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
- Does that mean you'll vote to keep? Because that was the other example I used in my first comment. We wouldn't merge Stormtrooper and Stormtrooper Corps, so we shouldn't delete GAG trooper just because the page Galactic Alliance Guard already exists. JRT2010 (talk) 16:32, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
- I was going too, just wanted to be certain it was like the stormtroopers and stormtrooper corps first --Lewisr (talk) 16:53, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've been working on expanding the GAG trooper page, but I think I should just wait and see how this plays out. It wouldn't make sense to do all that work if the page just ends up getting deleted. JRT2010 (talk) 17:00, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
