The duel

Okay, folks. Let's talk about Duel at Sundari. There has been an inconclusive discussion about whether or not to redirect it to Battle of Sundari. Simply, the duel is part of the overall battle due to its proximity in time, the location, and the players involved.

Other reasons to merge it include past examples such as the Duel on Geonosis. Additionally, relevant info from the Duel has already been added to the Battle article.

    Agreed. In response to Tope, though, I see the Death Star II duel as separate from the Battle of Endor; one is chiefly Rebels versus Imperials, while the other is entirely Jedi vs. Sith with different objectives. So I'd vote against merging them. —MJ— Holocomm 19:00, March 22, 2013 (UTC)

  1. The article currently sucks and could use a major rewrite, but I would argue that this is an important enough event in the history of the Order of the Sith Lords that makes it worth keeping separate. For clarity's sake: I don't feel that this should be a universal policy with regards to duels; rather it should be something approached on a case-by-case basis. In this particular case, I think it's a good example of an event whereby we can keep and expand on our articles about the history of the OotSL—a subject about whose 1000-year history we know distressingly little. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 19:36, March 22, 2013 (UTC)
  2. Interestingly enough, I think MJ's description of Endor/Death Star duel applies here too, perhaps even more so. The duel is a power struggle within the Sith Order, while the larger battle is fighting to free Mandalore. To me, it seems like if the two events had occurred at different times, they would still have occurred the same way, and the only reason they were made to occur at the same time was to fit many storylines into a 22 minute episode.   3. I actually was voting without being familiar with these events, as I am not caught up on season five yet. After looking closer, Tomari has it right. This is a Sith power struggle, nothing more, and not really connected with the larger battle. Just because two conflicts take place at roughly the same place and time does not automatically make them one. The fact that the battle article fully describes the larger battle before jumping back in time to cover the duel, rather than interweaving them, is further evidence that these are two separate events.   6. The Sith combatants had nothing to do with the battle. It would be different if say Maul and Opress were leading the charge and then all the sudden Palps landed out of nowhere, but that's not how it happened.
