Clone trooper and stormtrooper backpacks (talk - history - links - logs)
Yeah, right, another TC thread, like we don't have enough already at the moment. Today I present you recently created Clone trooper backpack and Stormtrooper backpack. Toprawa and Ralltiir suggested that I take it to TC instead of simply redirecting it to - well - Backpack. My reasons for that were: except from the obvious fact that the backpack is the backpack is the backpack, can anyone show me a page from any Visual Guide that say that those two backpacks were in any way different from a regular one? For example, for Luke Skywalker's backpack the source says that it was made from gundark-skin and was worn by Luke for a long time. For those two, the backpack is rather a part of respective armor than a unigue item. Besides, one of those articles contains OR ("backpacks were used by Imperial Stormtroopers during operations that required the individual Stormtroopers to be independent and self-sufficient for longer periods of time" - does the game itself say that?), the other is just nonsence ("Clone trooper backpack was... used by Jedi" - Hmmm). So, IMO it is a clear redirect case. MauserComlink 01:03, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

- Redirect to backpack; move pertinent information to the articles on their armor. Until and unless specific articles end up being made on all the individual parts of clone and stormtrooper armor. Graestan(Talk) 17:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. Unless we've got a brand name or something. Enochf 23:29, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Merge/redirect to backpack. Then someone should FA backpack. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 23:35, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Merge with and redirect. Trak Nar Ramble on 06:28, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Keep
- Probably notable/specific enough to have their own articles, even if we don't have official titles for them. Note that nothing is stopping this information from having a mention in the Backpack article to begin with. Toprawa and Ralltiir 17:47, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Comments
I didn't say merge since there isn't anything of value to merge. If you really want, you can redirect them to Clone trooper armor and Stormtrooper armor instead, but I choose not to add a third vote-splitting option. MauserComlink 01:03, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- You don't think the screenshot is worth adding to the backpack article? - Esjs(Talk) 06:11, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Still thinking over the best course of action for these two articles, but you should know there IS more information on stormtrooper backpacks. There's also an Echo Trooper backpack that, should we decide to keep these articles separate, may also need its own article. jSarek 07:27, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, JSarek, in this case stormtrooper backpack is fine and needs just more appearances and sources. I'll get to it in a few days. Still see nothinf specifical about clone trooper backpack though. MauserComlink 17:46, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps it would be best to specify this in the voting option if you believe stormtrooper backpack does indeed deserve its own article, which I agree based on that CCG card that it absolutely does. Toprawa and Ralltiir 17:59, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

- Maybe I'm way off here, but I would even consider these a part of Stormtrooper armor and Clone trooper armor. Perhaps a merge/redirect into those articles is in order. Toprawa and Ralltiir 17:53, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- If this is to be merged, I believe a small gallery of the various backpacks known in the galaxy within the article would be wise. OLIOSTER

- Oh, and yeah, try and save the images to keep in the backpack article. A slight expansion will be needed, which could mention specialized equipment in, say, snow- or sandtrooper packs. Enochf 23:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- The visual guides, themselves, have absolutely nothing on clone trooper backpacks, not even an image. I couldn't find anything on stormtrooper backpacks either, but their was information on snowtrooper backpacks, which weren't really backpacks. They were worn on the back like one and provided communications and heating. Cyfiero 06:22, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would also like to note that, while Star Wars Galaxies is often seen with derision, it has a number of unique backpacks in it that might be worth adding pictures of to the backpack article. OLIOSTER
