Attempted Assassination of Padmé Amidala (talk - history - links - logs)
We simply do not and should not have an article for every bounty hunt or assassination attempt. This info should be in the individual character articles, or put into Alderaan conference on the Clone War refugee crisis.

- Tommy does raise a good point, but whereas Kas'im and Na'daz's duel was a singular event unrelated to the overall Sith War, this attack was part of the Alderaan conference's events and not something that stood apart, so I think merging and redirecting is the best option. - Musta been a heck of a fifteen hour period you went through in between. I'm choosing to believe you had a Jack Bauer-esque crisis of that duration. DD97Which bear is best? 00:19, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

- I tend to be hyperinclusionist on some things, but even I think this should simply be combined. I'm wary of the precedent, but I think this should be combined in this case. — Fiolli 17:47, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

That's like saying we shouldn't have duel articles for all duels, or back to the ol' individual lightsaber argument. But we *do* have Duel between Kas'im and Na'daz and Duel between Marka Ragnos and Simus, the former of which had much much less significance than the latter. Point is that someone somewhere will obviously be interested in searching for an article such as this, and they shouldn't be denied one. Notability is relative.—Tommy 9281 11:22, November 5, 2010 (UTC)- That's like saying we should have an article for "Greedo's attempted shooting of Han Solo" or "Zam Wessell's attempted shooting of Obi-Wan Kenobi" or the like. This has nothing to do with duels or lightsaber articles—its about one individual attempting to kill another and whether or not that attempt is significant. If the attempt isn't, or if it can be included in full detail in another article, then it shouldn't get an article. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 16:39, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Once again, your misinterpretation of my statement betrays you. Take note of the last sentence.—Tommy 9281 16:44, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't betray me, and I'm not misinterpreting anything. I'm disagreeing with you. I read the sentence, and I think it's a bad claim that could lead to a bad precedent. You don't, so it's disagreement. I'm not going to sway you from that opinion, so I'll stop the conversation here. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 16:47, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- LMAO Dude, relax, you did misinterpret my statement whether you think you did or not, but I'm not in the business of explaining myself to anyone, so I'll let you think what you want. Regardless of that, I may be inclined to change my vote with sufficient supporting evidence.—Tommy 9281 16:56, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- I think I understand Tom. However, if the info can easily be contained in the article on the conference, then I would say making a redirect to the section that covers the assassination attempt is more fitting. It all depends on where you draw the line between a simple fight and an epic duel that changes history. That line is not always so clear. MasterFred

Comments
Let me clarify, because this may come up: certain bounty hunts or assassination attempts do deserve an article, like the Destruction of the Star of Iskin, The Hunt, or the Plot to assassinate Senator Amidala. This is because the were either successful, or in some way had a serious impact on events in the galaxy. However, things such as this or Assassination attempts on Duchess Satine, which can be merged with other articles on official events and which do not have a particular impact on the progression of the galaxy, shouldn't have articles. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 05:55, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- I do have to agree that this particular article should be merged/redirected into Alderaan conference on the Clone War refugee crisis. If you are OK with that being made an option, then I'll support it. If not, then I think I'll have to go on the side of hyperinclusionism. - JMAS
Hey, it's me! 13:01, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah this one's hard. Where do we draw the line on what assassination attempts are significant or not, as opnions vary? I'm typically an inclusionist, and such, if merging is not an option, I'm with JMAS. MasterFred
(Whatever) 13:51, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- I'll change "Delete" to "Merge and redirect," even though I don't think anyone but the editors of the page are going to come looking for "Attempted assassination of Padmé Amidala." Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 16:41, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
