I don't know how many others do this, but the search feature is great for finding and eliminating typos. I've eliminated a handful, but a lot still remain.

I'll list a typographical error, anybody can add to the list, and as soon as no articles contain that particular typo, it gets crossed out. Maybe this thread will die out in an hour, or maybe not. But as a suggestion, if you do find a typo, don't just fix it. Look to see if there are other instances, and if there are too many to fix, add it to the Hunt, and maybe other contributors can fix it in their spare time.
I guess we can also include the non-preferred British spellings here.
NOTE: Crossed-out words can and do reappear. Some of them are very common. In my experience, the most frequently recurring typo is "millenium" (comes back literally every two or three days and requires constant correcting, especially in the main character bios).

Improper compound words
- Words that should be hyphenated or separated, also optional. Science fiction often invents words like this, so it's more of a stylistic thing than an error

- P.S. valid point: "duelled"/"duelling" are not incorrect. My spell-check hiccoughs at them, and yours probably does too, but you'll find the alternative in the dictionary as acceptable; however, the one L is listed first as preferred. Same with the "travel" variations. The spelling "Traveller," especially is very common in titles and shouldn't be changed.
- Anybody have an opinion on ‘darkside’ and ‘homeplanet’ as one word? I put a space in between when I encounter them, personally, but I'm not sure if there's any official ’pedia stance on these two. My position is homeworld is one word, home planet is two. Enochf 21:25, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

- "Blond" and "blonde" are getting mixed up. It seems most people use blonde, but both are correct. In fact, "blond" generally refers to males, and "blonde" (with an 'e') to females. --Xwing328(Talk) 01:03, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

- I've checked paper dictionaries on "dextrous/dexterous", and they appear to indicate that it's a matter of personal preference, rather than an American-British thing. Given that it's pronounced without the extra e, is there any danger in us settling on dextrous instead of dexterous? Cortle Steeze 22:50, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, yeah, my dictionary indicates "dextrous" as a variant of "dexterous"... and I know my spell-check hiccoughs at "dextrous." - One thing that makes me mad is the common misuse of the apostrophe. I'm not immune to it myself, but what I'm talking about is elementary stuff; things like using an apostrophe to denote plurals (e.g., "weapons's manufacturers", "imperial entanglement's", "death star's" [when referring to both Death Stars] and the like). I've corrected a couple and will keep it up as I see them. A good technique to find pages to typo-hunt is to keep hitting the "Random Article" link.--Goodwood 04:37, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

- Any chance of getting the Search feature for Wookieepedia to be capitalization specific? If someone is doing a search to correct human to Human, doing a search for "human" with a small h also pulls all the results of the word with a capital H. - JMAS 19:19, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

- I believe that Dreadnaught is the name of a ship class, like Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser and Dreadnought is a type of vessel. Like Executor-class Star Dreadnought and Eclipse-class dreadnought. - JMAS 19:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

A good place to systematically check for typos, (but only those that are redlinks), is at Special:Wantedpages. ~ Jaywin
- They are used interchangeably in the books; the only difference between the two is that "dreadnaught" is the American spelling, and "dreadnought" is the British spelling. 'Taskforce' occurs so many times because it is part of an infobox. First of all, that infobox template should be changed. Domlith 16:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I found a typo yesterday, at the varactyl page. There stood "panting" except for "painting" - Upaw -Upaw
I taken a hell of a long time (2 hrs), but I've given correct spellings for all of the typos in the first section. I've verified every one on dictionary.com. Hope you find it useful. Soresumakashi 11:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
