    • So does this mean that even the CCG and names given to characters from the movie in the EU (the literal hundreds of secondary characters who have received names and possibly backstories in the EU and/or CCG) are no longer canon? For example, is Drazin no longer the stormtrooper who shoots Threepio on Bespin offscreen in ESB and R2 on Endor onscreen in ROTJ, and TIE pilots in Death Star hangar from the beginning of ROTJ no longer flying the fighters they were established as flying from the film in the CCG?     • God, I knew it was a mistake for us to implement this now. Normally, we'd keep admin arguments to the realm of personal discussion, but I really have to vent here. We decided around the end of this February that it was about time we went to George's vision of how the Star Wars universe should be. As you can imagine, we realized there would be quite the difficult transition ahead of us. We were initially going to phase it, bit by bit; start with the games and older sources, then work our way up to finally removing the novel materials. The first materials were going to be removed next week. But someone—I won't name them—thought we should just announce it at once and start removing things. And Mr. Bright Ideas there figured that the start of the month would be a good time to break the news. Well, April 1, you can imagine the problem.   • I know I'm a bit late on this, and that it's largely snowballed anyway, but I'll toss in my support for this method. Adding the EU stuff (junk, as it were) just complicates and makes confusing the will of the Great Lucas. Also, Hydro, feel free to add me to that list now. I've had it with this website, and will in fact, pack my bags and leave post haste. I've poured hours and hours into making articles almost exclusively about EU topics, as well as improving other EU articles. I'll be taking advantage of Wikia's Insta-Request-A-Wiki feature and will request a cached version of Wookieepedia's database servers, as I promised you all that I would. While Wookieepedia may have the name recognition, the limited scope of your content will ultimately allow this splinter wiki to prevail. Very lame, the EU is the majority of the universe, w/o it Star Wars wouldn't even be half of what it is today. The novels are what really got me into Star Wars, not the movies. Maybe if George Lucas had read the Novels then Episodes 1 - 3 wouldn't have been so horrible.--HWI 06:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

    • George's vision is that Han was never the edgy pragmatist that was depicted in the original version of A New Hope, so his newer versions of the film reflect that fact by showing Greedo taking the shot. Wookieepedia will follow George's lead on this matter. jSarek 09:19, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

George Lucas would laugh in the face of sweet Nen Yim or brave Vua Rapuung. He would mock Anakin Solo—perhaps even on Anakin Solo Day itself!—he'd put an end to my epic 130,000,000 word Nom Anor survival fanfic with a simple rustle of his flannel shirt. I hereby retract my numerous works and demand an admin delete them. To aid the Cabal in this venture, a full list of every article I've ever edited can be found proudly displayed on my userpage as part of my enduring Legacy.   • There are a very good amount of people who have put long hours into EU articles, and it's just outrageous to see all of this work go to waste. So the majority of the wiki will just be purged, despite all the hard work that many, many users have put into it? That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. To tear down the empire that's been built for over 40 years is something unimaginable. George Lucas doesn't control continuity, and this isn't "his" galaxy anymore. He's not the boss, and to try and erase The Clone Wars, the comics, the awesome novels... All gone. As for you, Tranner/Chee, you have no way of proving your identity.   • Why not just creat a new Wookieepedia that keeps all the EU information?   • Well said, Lucias malfoy7. And last time I checked, lucasfilm ltd. still counts the EU as canon, so i see no reason why we shouldnt. But as it seems that this is not a joke after all, this site is now just a piece of crap. Too bad the admins had to ruin it, too, because I had a lot of fun here, and I was able to learn a lot of stuff. My only suggestion for compromise is to keep all the EU information and just mark it as EU...   • I'm with Jonjedigrandmaster, thats why i suggested the splinter wiki as an idea to be discussed. To tell you the truth i hate the story lines in the EU after RotJ and they way things went. But the ideas, the technology, time and explination put into them that i love and what really got me into this site.   • Thankfully, in their infinite wisdom, Wikia have introduced more stringent criteria for the creation of new wikis. If you want to create any other Star Wars wikis, it'll have to be unanimously approved by the Wookieepedia administration, and it takes months for the new servers to arrive in Wikia HQ for any new wikis. I honestly think way too many people are taking this way too seriously. This is either an April Fool's joke that the admin is trying its very damnedest to keep going despite the fact it's already been shown to be nonsense, or it's a very poor decision - and, honestly, logic would tell you it's the former. If the EU is really going out, if they are really going to ban people for questioning, etc., why are the articles still up, why am I not banned? It's an April Fool's joke that just isn't funny, but not funny because people are getting hot and bothered over it, but because it's like a joke that someone tells, nobody finds funny, but the person who told it insists it's really funny and maybe even funnier upon a second, third, or even fourth retelling. Not only does it become less funny, but a little annoying. Sorry, Admins, good try, but you're either going to have a riot on your hands soon over people taking this far too seriously, or people are just going to roll their eyes.   • The "Did You Know?" gives it away. They specifically chose to mention facts that directly contradict things that were in the EU (even going out of their way to say that a specific character doesn't exist). Either this is an April Fool's joke, [Redacted by administration] However, the fact that the admins are insisting so adamantly that this is the real deal gives me pause. It also makes me scratch my head. Why would they do this? Wasn't the very reason that Wookieepedia was created in the first place to provide a place where articles otherwise not considered notable enough to be included on Wikipedia? If this is the case, it makes the site far less useful. Why would I need to go onto a separate website to look up the fact that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? I've seen the movies - EVERYONE has. There would be so little unique information on this site (that is, information contained on it that you can't find on Wikipedia) that it would have no point in existing. Hell, most of the major characters in the films have their own Wikipedia articles anyway, as do most of the vehicles and weaponry that is explicitly named in the films. And seeing as how Lucasfilm has made no such sweeping statement of non-canonicity - there are only a few off-hand comments by Lucas himself, none of which come across as favoring complete outright annihilation of the EU as canon - merely delineation between Lucas's work and the EU. And even if these remarks DO qualify, who cares what that fat old man says? He hasn't made anything good in almost 20 years. What has he done for me lately? You must be seriously dedicated to this "film purism" ideal if you're willing to delete 95 percent of your content to support it. Hmm...why does the name "Joe Quesada" keep coming to mind? However, I still call shenanigans. Rather convenient that an idea first posed AS AN APRIL FOOL'S DAY JOKE is implemented ON APRIL FOOL'S DAY.
