Hi Wooks,
After I began to convert the Legends links in Family Guy: Blue Harvest to canon, NoahR9 undid this change, pointing out that this Family Guy episode was released during the Expanded Universe era.
That's indisputably true, but of dubious relevance. The canon/Legends split applied retroactively to past works: Episodes I through VI were all produced during the "Expanded Universe era," as was almost all of The Clone Wars; nonetheless, these things were deemed canon.
The official split, of course, encompasses only official works, leaving Family Guy outside its scope. But we have articles about three Family Guy episodes, and their links to Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, et al. have to point somewhere. What target makes more sense for these links: canon or Legends?
I contend canon. Unlike the Robot Chicken skits — some of which used Expanded Universe names and concepts — the Family Guy episodes used only what was, under the existing system, G-canon, all of which is now under the plain "canon" banner.
I also contend that our decision to make "canon" the site default suggests that in ambiguous cases such as this, canon should be the default option for link targets unless there's compelling reason to link to Legends articles.
This same logic can apply to other articles about unofficial items that reference only the films, such as Star Wars Science.

- Makes sense to me. <-Omicron(Leave a message at the BEEP!) 00:42, November 26, 2016 (UTC)
- I agree. Harshg (talk) 16:31, November 27, 2016 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, I agree, as well. Even in cases like the Robot Chicken skits, I'd say it's better to link to the Canon article (if it exists) than its Legends counterpart unless Legends context is absolutely necessary. jSarek (talk) 06:44, December 1, 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'll go with agreeing. This makes sense to give canon precedence. NoahR9
