Heya, towing something small here. Or two small things, rather.
Currently, WP:CON about infobox image votes says:
- "Consensus votes to determine an article's main infobox image shall be decided by simple majority vote, or plurality vote."
Recently it came up that we may opt to have sort of "default" outcome in the case of a tie. Currently, I suppose if a vote was an exact tie, it would either a) remain at whatever the new image was (if one), because it would've been the most current revision or b) be reverted to whatever the image was prior to the disagreement sparking a vote. Of course, not all image votes start based on a disagreement (and are just rather a gallery style vote), but others result based on an initial disagreement of a sort.
This was kinda discussed in the Discord; of having it automatically be to whatever the version that was on the page prior to the vote as the "default" outcome in the case of an exact tie. Thoughts?
Addendum/second thing: so we have {{CAnom}}…{{Tc}}…and other such templates. Thoughts on making a tagging template for image votes? Just to let people know that there's an image vote ongoing and makes it easier to get to from the page itself, lets folk know it's occurring. If we do make one, we'll probably need to document it somewhere; probably like how {{Tc}} and its instructions are talked about on the Forum:Trash compactor.
Might look something like this, vaguely, though obv details within subject to change and its more of just a "this sort of template" so people can visualize it better. (Realistically, without one right now, you have to be actively stalking Discord announcements or tracking the RecentChanges to see the votes, which isn't optimal).—spookywillowwtalk 04:12, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

- I think a tagging template would be a good idea. And I'll add, I almost didn't see this to comment, because I could barely read it! ;) - JMAS
Hey, it's me! 04:24, 5 May 2024 (UTC) - Hmm, I suppose it default to the last image before the vote could work. And good idea about the template - I think the logical place to mention it would be on the CT page. Imperators II(Talk) 07:50, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this is the correct thing to do "to the exact word", as in case of conflict, the last image before the vote might not be the one that was there prior to the conflict. Per spooky own wording, "be reverted to whatever the image was prior to the disagreement sparking a vote", seems more appropriate. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 14:39, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- I guess I was overfocused on the first scenario and did not consider that we can just note both of them. Imperators II(Talk) 16:25, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

- Yes to both a header template and to reverting to whatever the most recent image before the disagreement was, not the one that was there right before the vote Fan26 (Talk) 16:12, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah sounds like a good idea, per Fan. OOM 224 (he/him) 16:27, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Per Fan, also would support a header template. Rsand 30 (talk) 17:37, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
