Opening a thread to discuss a lot of, essentially entirely unrelated small LG suggestions and to inquire if others had more. A lot of these stem from miscellaneous site changes that just never got carried over; though, the policy should be updated to reflect these. If any has any suggestions to add (that fall under a "minor" change not entirely suitable for its own vote), would love to hear.

From top to bottom:

  • {{Top}} template section includes a hypothetical example of a complete IU Top template. But, both the OOU and IU subpages for the LG link back to the main LG; so this section should include a hypothetical full example of the OOU as well.
  • That same section should be updated with the new Top template parameters in its explanation, such as "pfa" "pga" and "pca", as well as "rwp" and "rwm"—or any others that've made their way on there in recent times. It might be ideal to just link to the template documentation at the start of the section there, as well, to point people toward a more detailed explanation. - nvm this one is being added, had policy wordimg not snuck in upon closing
  • Regarding Forum:CT:Disambiguation, The Sequel—this recently passed. It's a notable change in the way these ones have been titled for a number of years though, and it's also currently undocumented in any policy page. Perhaps the naming policy should include a line about this, and "Disambig" section on the LG should point to the naming policy for guidance?
  • From "Spoiler tag"; we're missing {{TVspoiler}} which is nowadays used a lot.
  • Regarding several of the examples on the page, specifically the Belaya infobox, missing categories from the Mace Windu example. These should be tweaked, esp since the character infobox field additions are themselves also CT'd.
  • The "Index" section currently, in the example, uses - for ranges of page numbers and — in general rather than what is now commonly done in using – and — instead. Best to tweak this to be in line with how the Indexes have been tweaked; that or, they need to be swapped back. (This section also has "External links" referred to as "External Links"; easy swap.)
  • So, awhile back there was a vote to well, not link an Interwiki site. Good, all fine. But this isn't documented in policy anywhere. List of Star Wars Wikis in other languages also notes that Wook reserves the right, by way of consensus, to choose its interwiki partners. It might be prudent to add a link to that list page and that which ones it does list are pursuant to what's outlined there (or something?).

Most of the above are essentially formatting issues or things that have passed CT in another form and just never got documented anywhere other than on its own voting forum. But, can put them into a drafted diff link pending other suggestions to add. Given most of these ones listed above seem quite minor, we might just be able to put them forward as "cleanup vote" and bundle them all together, but also if any disagreement, happy to subvote any of them.—spookywillowwtalk 21:32, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

  • No objection here. "You may fire when ready." NanoLuukeCloning Facility 17:15, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
  • Adding to above that noting that OOU real-world people pages no longer need DEFAULTSORT could be good too, since thats been changed and it currently phrases as it being needed on all article types.—spookywillowwtalk 01:51, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
    • Right. Also, how about changing the example for {{IMDb}} in External links to remove the "url=" part? NanoLuukeCloning Facility 06:39, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
  • Just want to correct: The index examples uses – (non-code ndash) not - (hyphen) for ranges. And — (non-code mdash) for separation of media and indexing. Which are both correct. They're written as their code versions and the index example is nested in a nowiki tag, so I'm not sure why they're displaying as their non-code versions, or how to fix it. • I mean yeah, it's just a matter of adding nowiki tags in the right spots.—spookywillowwtalk 22:53, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
