The end of the Skywalker Saga is upon us. Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker will be released in the coming week and we will be enforcing a spoiler lockdown in accordance with Wookieepedia:Spoilers. Adding spoiler content to the site before the US-wide release is a violation of our spoiler policy and violators will be dealt with accordingly. This year, we will be using cascading protection instead of protecting individual articles. Users attempting to edit locked articles will see a link to Wookieepedia:Spoilers/Spoiler lockdown.
A list of articles that will be locked is available on the talk page. Please feel free to add articles to this list if you feel we have missed something. Once the lockdown is in effect, please post in this thread if something needs to be added.

You're doing the right thing. My fellow Star Wars fans and I support you 100%! OliverMichaelWest (talk) 17:24, December 15, 2019 (UTC)17:16, December 15, 2019 (UTC)OliverMichaelWest
Didn’t Wookieepedia go out of its way to spoil The Force Awakens on the edit pages prior to the wide release? Moose05 (talk) 17:19, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
- I am pretty sure that is not the case. Our Spoiler policy was made more stringent in early 2018 (see this vote) and we did not employ large-scale page protection for TFA (or Rogue One, I believe), but to my knowledge we've always avoided spoilers prior to official release. 1358 (Talk) 17:26, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for letting us know. Will comply. Andykatib 17:25, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
So, what this exactly means? Do it mean that once the clock of the Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time Zone hits 00:00 a.m., we can edit and put spoilers? ----- X9 The Android (talk) 17:38, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
So that means people can't edit the wikia while watching the movie in theaters and what about December 19 because the movie is released on December 19 in the United States sometime after 6:30 (for me I'm central time). And how does this apply to people writing things about the movie in their talk page or profile page on Wookieepedia (Edit: I removed the word blog)? (This is just a statement of info and a fact about me I don't care if someone spoilers any movie for me past, present or future). CarverSindile (talk) 00:55, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
- We never had a problem with that, given that people don't usually write user pages after seeing a movie. We can't lockdown the entire wikia. If you decide to read someones talk page or profile its at your own risk.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 03:53, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
- Was actually going to ask the Admins I could find and ask on their talk pages about this lockdown. Glad someone else agreed. I was annoyed when someone put up a banner during TFA's release about Kylo Ren. That bothered me greatly.--Noash Retrac (talk) 06:36, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
What about December 19th since the movie is technically released on December 19th. CarverSindile (talk) 08:11, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
- As it says above, the spoiler period expires after the movie has premiered in all of the US. This is mandated by our Spoiler policy. The vast majority of our readers are US-based. 1358 (Talk) 17:09, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
- I looked it up (to make sure I got it right) and it took a while but Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker is released in all 50 states at Thursday, December 19 after 6:00 PM. I looked at all 50 states and multiple movie theaters and they show Thur, Dec 19 after 6:00 PM as when the movie will be released and premiered.CarverSindile (talk) 09:57, December 17, 2019 (UTC)
With the leak of some pages of the TROS Visual Dictionary, there may be leaks added between today and the lockdown date, we already had our first block regarding this issue. So I would recommend anyone not wanting to know anything, to leave until you get to see the movie.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 06:40, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
Other Pages to lock down
Because it’s in the trailer, I’d recommend we add the a certain spoiler ship to the locked down pages. Also Resistance navy, Resistance Army, First Order Navy, and First Order Army--Editoronthewiki (talk) 18:19, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
