Our good friend Leland Chee has recently confirmed via Twitter that it's "Fair to assume [canon] species names are the same unless you hear otherwise. Same goes for planets. And ship models." The citation can be found here. Thanks to LelalMekha for first bringing this to our attention; this obviously has large implications on our criteria for the creation of canon pages. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 05:18, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Is there a film example of a species/planet/ship name that hasn't been named in canon that this would apply to? Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 05:28, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Lelal and I have already created Abyssin/Canon and Pacithhip/Canon, but there are tons of Cantina aliens, Palace aliens, etc. that can be created now. As for planets, I currently don't know, but there likely some background ships floating around somewhere (see what I did there?). - AV-6R7Crew Pit 05:33, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Would unnamed topics not originating from the OT be up for grabs? - Cwedin(talk) 06:13, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Any canon material, not just the OT. So if you want to make Swokes Swokes, go for it! - AV-6R7Crew Pit 06:15, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Brilliant! - Cwedin(talk) 06:17, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- So that means TIE Interceptor can be moved to TIE/IN interceptor? Brules

- I'd assume so; same with the bomber. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 06:22, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
- Don't forget ships that are called by a common name per the databank but are given a full name in Legends(not going to be as easy as it should be due to the lack of inclusion in Category:starships)--D9328 (talk) 22:14, August 18, 2016 (UTC)d9328
- Hmm, I think I'll have a gaze through some of the Servants of the Empire material again - there are a lot of items mentioned in that series in passing that may fall under this. ProfessorTofty (talk) 03:12, August 19, 2016 (UTC)
- This presumably also includes non-sentient species, of which there are plenty more examples that now need making. Ayrehead02 (talk) 07:32, August 19, 2016 (UTC)

- (resetting indent) As far as I can tell, yes, for the ship models. Individual ship names, though, are not. As for space stations, I'm not sure.--D9328 (talk) 15:21, August 21, 2016 (UTC)d9328
- Okay cool thanks just wanted to make sure! Also to your earlier question about the Death Star, I think it's more of a battle station rather than ship --Lewisr (talk) 15:25, August 21, 2016 (UTC)
- But would that fall under the ship category? Nevermind, it's an individual station, not a model.--D9328 (talk) 15:40, August 21, 2016 (UTC)d9328
- All major galactic government fleets have been updated, within reason. It's common sense that the Imperial light carrier shouldn't have the name rebel carrier in canon.--D9328 (talk) 20:00, August 21, 2016 (UTC)d9328
