Light spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Andor regarding costumes:
Hello everyone. As some of you may know, I've been keeping track of rank insignia plaques of the Galactic Empire in canon. I noticed that all Imperial rank plaques in the Andor trailer and in the episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are single row plaques, identical to the ones featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story. As such, curious if the same chart was used for Andor and Kenobi, I asked Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter about this.
He was kind enough to confirm that there were two eras for Imperial rank insignia plaques, pre-Battle of Yavin and post-Battle of Yavin. Production of Andor and Kenobi follow the single row model introduced in Rogue One and used in Solo. Since this is confirming production information that's already established by the chart that was revealed around the time of Rogue One, and is similar to a name revealed in a script but not directly mentioned in a piece of content, I wanted to introduce this Senate Hall to measure consensus about using this chart for IU information, rather than only noting it in the BTS section. All confirmed ranks are consistent with the chart, for example Sotorus Ramda being a general is consistent with the chart, Lieutenant Alayus Bolandin, Admiral Gorin, Commodore Almudin, etc. They are all consistent with the chart, along with all other confirmed Imperial officers in the content.
This practice will only take place for live-action content that takes place prior to Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope as confirmed by Pablo. Double row plaques in live-action will not count, and single row plaques in non-live-action content such as Star Wars: The Bad Batch, comics, or other illustrations or art will also not count. For example, Captain Bragg of from The Bad Batch does not have a rank plaque consistent with this chart. Therefore, confirming that this chart is used for live-action productions for content that take place prior to Yavin.

- I definitely like this idea. Hopefully they release more charts for post-BoY and animation. We can then apply the same principle accordingly. —Tomotron

- Yeah, I hope there's an updated version of this chart as well, and hopefully there's also one for Star Wars: The Mandalorian with their double row plaques. --Vitus InfinitusTalk 02:48, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

- Given what you've said, it seems like we have every reason to assume that this chart is being followed for live-action productions, and therefore the corresponding ranks for pre-Yavin rank plaques must follow through in-universe, so yeah this sounds good to me. OOM 224 16:52, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, this is social media confirming IU information that so we can use it. Personally we could maybe have something like 'Per [tweet], live action series pre-battle of yavin use consistent single-row rank insignia. As X is confirmed to be a [rank] and shares the same insignia as Y, Y is also a [rank]" Manoof (he/him/his) (talk) 04:13, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah I can work on some sort of ref template. Since there's support on Discord as well it looks like we're all pretty much in agreement. I'll begin making a ref template in the near future when this SH draws to a closer to an end. --Vitus InfinitusTalk 14:00, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'm happy with having this rank system to properly work off of for now for the relevant media, until Lucasfilm gives us a more solid layout. Braha'tok enthusiast Hello there 08:26, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
