Hello everyone. It's been a few months since we introduced Index pages. Some discrepancies were noted between the Index policy and the example provided, so I wanted to draft a quick CT to fix those as well as introduce some more things to the policy. I worked with Anil to change the policy; the changes we're currently recommending are linked here.
To summarize the changes quickly:
- We replaced the example with a trimmed version of C2-B5 for more examples.
- (Formatting) Replaced some hyphens in the policy with em dashes for proper usage.
- Changed policy to format time stamps with colons (:) instead of periods (.), per US formatting standards.
- Changed policy to use en dashes for a range of pages/time stamps, per standard en dash usage.
We approached Ayrehead for more feedback, and he had the brilliant idea of making a Senate Hall first. So here we are, eager to hear from others who have done index pages for their suggestions. Thanks y'all. NBDani

- Because the page itself is still live, but the content regarding C2-B5 was removed at some point, so the backup link is the only place to find it. Master Fredcerique

- Somewhat tangential but maybe worth discussing what happens to index pages if their parent page gets deleted? Bit of a loophole as there's, iirc, nowhere explicitly in policy that states a corresponding index page would get deleted alongside. Even a simple line like "unless requested for the content to be moved to a user subpage, a Trash compactor with a Delete result would also result in the article's corresponding index being deleted" or some such similar.—spookywillowwtalk 03:32, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

- While we have some eyes on this SH, what do people think of Index categories for Legends and Canon subjects? If we do that, what category would Creators/Media go into? —Unsigned comment by NBDani (talk • contribs)

- We'll be adding a clause to prevent quotes below the Media index header, but allowing quotes to be used at the top of the page, like shown here Index:Nerko. Currently no policy prevents it.
