Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH:Din Djarin infobox
I'm finally bringing up something that's been bugging me for some time. So I'm bringing it up for community discussion before moving to a CT.
Din Djarin has had his face displayed in his infobox since the end of Season 2. I firmly believe this is doing the character a disservice. As a member of The Tribe, his fully armored and helmeted self IS his identity. I believe his main infobox image needs to be changed back to him wearing his helmet. His image sans helmet should absolutely be moved to the article body. And once we get OOM's infobox galleries in use, both can be used in the infobox with helmet picture being primary.

- Back when his infobox image was first made his face, it seemed to basically everyone that his character arc would be realizing the flaws of the Children of the Watch and his creed, and embracing his self-identity without the helmet. It made sense to have his face in the infobox because we all expected to be seeing way more of it from that point on. Then Book of Boba Fett and Mando S3 completely regressed any indication of that plot thread and made the Children of the Watch A-OK and Mando helmet-only for the foreseeable future (probably a practical necessity with Pedro Pascal being in everything nowadays, but still). As it stands, Din Djarin's identity—not solely from an out-of-universe perspective, but from an in-universe one as well—is TIGHTLY bound to his helmet, and as mentioned already any indication that this would change regressed with more recent material. So I agree, we should make his infobox a helmeted image.
Plus, crying Pedro is a weird image to have as his infobox tbh. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 19:41, 3 September 2024 (UTC) - While I am sure there is a better image of Djarin's that can be used for the infobox, isn't it generally preferred to show a character's face on the character's article whenever possible, to show what the character actually looks like instead of their equipment? The article isn't about his helmet or armor, after all. SorcererSupreme21 (talk) 22:14, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- This is the general preference, yes, but an infobox is generally also tied to how a character perceives their own identity, and in this case the helmet is quite important there. That being said, it is worth noting that OOM is currently having a discussion about introducing galleries for infobox images, so this particular senate hall may be rendered moot soon enough. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 02:03, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Got to side with JMAS and Thannus, helmeted is how Din sees himself. Now, if in Mando and Grogu next year he is open to showing his face around Grogu, I will personally bring out the pitchforks as we begin a second 'what do we do with Din Djarin's infobox' sh thread :P Editoronthewiki (talk) 02:38, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- One of the rare exceptions to the helmet precedent. Though, do want to still note that while agreed in this case, the vast majority of characters shouldn't; probably only ever ones with a image CT in place codifying a helmet infobox TBF.—spookywillowwtalk 03:58, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Absolutely. 100% this is an isolated case for this character only. And this will ultimately be decided by a future CT, as should every infobox image that goes against the standard precedent. - JMAS

- I'm in firm agreement with JMAS' proposition and the above reasoning. — Commander Bhatoa (talk) 18:02, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

- Agree, but the future gallery will fix it anyway (with helmeted as main image of course ^^). NanoLuukeCloning Facility 15:53, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
