So there's been some ideas for canon barnstorms and stuff, but they haven't really gone anywhere because it's generally agreed that those who edit canon stuff are going to keep editing it anyway and it isn't going to really attract people who don't care about it. I had another idea. What if a group of us got together and tried to make a single canon article the best it could be, possibly with the goal of Good or Featured status, or barring that, simply improving it as much as we can? We could each agree to tackle a specific aspect of the article - say, one person agrees to work on the article History, another handles the Personality section, another handles creating articles from those links that are red, another covering Behind the scenes material, etc. etc. In order to help prevent edit conflicts, we could even each agree on a window of time during which each person on the project is allowed to edit that article - for example, each day from Noon to 2 eastern the article would be checked out to editor 1, then from 2 to 4 to editor 2, and so forth, or whichever times are most agreeable. I thought Character articles would be a good choice for this and if this idea sounds good to people, then I had these in mind as possible candidates:
- Anakin Skywalker - I've already done a lot of work on this article. However, it still needs a lot of material in the History section particularly related to the Clone Wars, could use another once-over for grammar and style issues, and still has a lot of redlinks, among other issues.
- Yoda - The Jedi's most powerful Master could really use a lot more detailed information in his History, as well as a Relationships section, more details about his powers and abilities, to name just a couple things.
- Sheev Palpatine - On the flipside, we have the Dark side's most powerful Master, whose article needs a lot of the same things Yoda's does.
- Chewbacca - Our number one Wookiee has a very incomplete History and pretty much no other biographical sections, such as Relationships.
- Leia Organa - Our new Miss Star Wars could use a lot more detail in her History section, needs more Personality info and other information about traits and abilities.
So how about it? I'm sure that by working together we could make some better Canon articles for the top characters of Star Wars. ProfessorTofty (talk) 17:58, January 6, 2015 (UTC)
- So kinda like the old improvement drives? Not a bad idea. Fe Nite (talk) 18:14, January 6, 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, maybe kinda like that. Perhaps a bit more structured with the sort of format I had proposed above. ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:45, January 6, 2015 (UTC)
- I'd be interested. By the way, how do I source the Movie story galleries on Starwars.Com? - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 00:33, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that myself. I suppose, if nothing else, there's always just linking it. Alright, so that's three, including myself, that are interested. Anyone else wanna be a part of this? ProfessorTofty (talk) 13:42, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
- I've never been one to work on the main characters, but I've felt that getting quality Canon articles for the main characters, and probably the supporting characters too, was a high priority. I'd like to help out however I can. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 16:32, January 8, 2015 (UTC)
- I'll leave this open a bit longer and then I guess we can see about getting started. I agree that getting better articles for the major characters is a priority. ProfessorTofty (talk) 19:08, January 10, 2015 (UTC)
- Some of those Rebels pages are pretty bare. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 19:12, January 10, 2015 (UTC)
- What if we make a project, like ProjectRebels?. ProjectCanon. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 19:14, January 10, 2015 (UTC)
- It' s an idea, but the whole "project" thing has always felt a bit unfocused to me. Pretty much anyone can sign up for one and then they just whatever they want that falls within the project. I'd really like this to be something more focused - targeting a specific article for, say, maybe two weeks or so and making it the best we can and then moving on to something else. - Resetting indent. Well, yeah. As I said, I was planning to leave this open until say, tomorrow evening, see if anybody else has anything to say, and then start a new thread and get started. The plan is to first identify which article we want to work on and then get going. At that point, those that are in (currently there's you, me, Fe Nite and Clonehunter) would each choose which aspect of the article we wanted to work on and then dive in.
