Looking at our articles for Star Wars: The Card Game, I'm finding the titles of our articles on the expansion packs (or Force Packs) to rather unnecessarily long. The six expansions for the game's "The Hoth Cycle" include "Star Wars: The Card Game - " in their title, which is inconsistent with our standard naming conventions for TCG expansion packs. For example, the Customizable Card Game and the Galaxies TCG expansion packs don't include the game's title in their article title. The original argument for having the expansion packs at their lengthy title was that "Star Wars: The Card Game - " was included in the publisher's title, and that Star Wars: The Card Game - The Battle of Hoth would cause redirect problems if it was simply The Battle of Hoth.

Similarly, the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG suffers from a similar naming problem. Several of the articles on the game's adventures and supplements include "Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: " in the title, which again, isn't something we do for either Wizards of the Coast or WEG. I'm fine with including Edge of the Empire in the titles for our articles on the rulebook and other stuff like that, but it's unnecessary for the adventures and supplements.

I don't think that it's at all necessary to include the "Star Wars: The Card Game - " in the title of these expansion packs, and the same goes for the Edge of the Empire adventures/supplements, As I encountered resistance the first time I tried to move them, I'm putting it to a vote; one for the TCG and one for the RPG. In summary, the following articles would be moved:

• The expansion packs:
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - A Dark Time should be moved to A Dark Time
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - Assault on Echo Base should be moved to Assault on Echo Base
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - Escape from Hoth should be moved to Escape from Hoth
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - The Desolation of Hoth should be moved to The Desolation of Hoth
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - The Search for Skywalker should be moved to The Search for Skywalker
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - The Battle of Hoth should be moved to The Battle of Hoth (Force Pack)
• And the deluxe expansions:
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - Balance of the Force should be moved to Balance of the Force
  • Star Wars: The Card Game - Edge of Darkness should be moved to Edge of Darkness
• Edge of the Empire adventures
  • Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: Beyond the Rim should be moved to Beyond the Rim
  • Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: Under a Black Sun should be moved to Under a Black Sun
• Edge of the Empire supplements:
  • Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: Dangerous Covenants should be moved to Dangerous Covenants
  • Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: Enter the Unknown should be moved to Enter the Unknown
  • Star Wars: Edge of the Empire: Suns of Fortune should be moved to Suns of Fortune

Discussion

• Looking at the Star Wars Trading Card Game articles, some of the expansions include (TCG) in the header where there may be confusion (eg The Phantom Menace (TCG)). Otherwise they do not have (TCG) in the title (eg Jedi Guardians). Would it be worth having a similar thing for these? Either way it would be nice to shorten it.   • The "(TCG)" at the end is for disambiguation purposes and is used only when the non-disambiguated title is in use for other purposes. In this case The Phantom Menace is rightly a redirect to Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace since that is what most people entering that term in the search box are looking for, thus it is necessary to append a parenthetical disambiguator to the title since it is not possible to have two pages with the same title. Jedi Guardians does not suffer from the same problem, therefore the "(TCG)" suffix there would be superfluous and only complicate searching. In short, titles are only disambiguated when multiple pages would otherwise have the same title. —MJ— ^Holocomm 23:40, January 1, 2014 (UTC)
    • I'm actually surprised The Battle of Hoth is a redlink. I thought for sure it would be a redirect to Battle of Hoth. FWIW, the following titles are "suggested" (for autocomplete) when typing:

        • I was unsure at first whether "The Battle of Hoth" strictly needed to redirect to the Battle of Hoth, but there are action figure packs, for one, called "The Battle of Hoth," so that should be a redirect, and the card set title should get a parenthetical descriptor.           • What about redirecting The Battle of Hoth to Battle of Hoth (disambiguation) and using that page to list "The Battle of Hoth" stuff as well?         • Please also note (when this CT passes), the difference between the proposed "shortened name" The Battle of Hoth (Force Pack) (capitalized "Pack") and the existing redirect The Battle of Hoth (Force pack) (lower case "pack").
