The result of the debate was to use {{blocked}} and tl|unblock for short term user blocks. –SentryTalk 02:16, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I just copied created two templates – {{blocked}} and tl|unblock. The first is meant to be subst'ed on user talk pages for short term (days/weeks/etc) bans (where using {{banned}} makes little sense). The unblock template is for blocked users to contest their blocks, by placing them in Category:Requests for unblock. As of now, we don't really have a way for users to contest their blocks (e-mail is somewhat slow, and simply editing their talkpage can often go by unnoticed). Thoughts?
Another subject I proposed a little while ago was the creation of Wookieepedia:Administrators' noticeboard. There has been some discussion on the talk page already; please join in. Thanks, RMF 18:13, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Also, there's tl|unblockold, which you can use to replace tl|unblock when an editor gets unblocked, or when their block expires normally. This will clear them from the Requests for unblock category, while still keeping a record on their talk page of their block and apology/explanation/etc. —Silly Dan (talk) 16:43, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
New option for blocking IP addresses?
You may want to keep an eye on this thread on the Wikia forum: it describes two possible new options for blocking IP addresses. Both of them are available on Wikipedia, but not on Wikia yet. The first stops anonymous users using a given IP or range of IPs from editing, but would allow registered users to edit (unless they were blocked too.) The second allows an admin to block creation of new registered accounts from a blocked IP address (though it occurs to me that, since every wikia shares a user account list, this option would probably be available only to Wikia staff if Wikia ever adopts it.) Just wanted to let everyone know. —Silly Dan (talk) 17:24, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
