This is a proposal to make it so that only admins can move articles.

This is to address the growing number of mvoe vandals, which struck again today. Basically, I am getting sick of the large amount of time - in some cases, over an hour - I have spent undoing their work. It is especially difficult if they move things with a talk page, or move pages multiple times, thus erasing entire pages.

I know that it will not stop vandalism, but especially since people have rejected the requirement to register before editing, this will help end the worst cases of vandalism. And with the number of admisn we have, the the rarity of the need to move articles, this really shouldn't be a problem.

7. Support. The amount of time doesn't even have to be very long - even a single day would still massively slow down move vandals, and stop just as many - only the most hardcore vandal will wait until tomorrow for vandalism they sign up for today. jSarek 03:39, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

• Is it possible to make it so that a user has to be registered for 4 days or so before they can move an article, similar to Wikipedia's semi-protection policy? Or has something like that already been implemented? -- I need a name 13:56, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

    • I think we do have a system restricting the page move rate for new users here, which is why the last bunch of vandals are only moving one or two articles, then proceeding to page blanking. I'd much prefer it if rather than coming four days after registration, move privleges came four days after a user's first edit in the main article space, but this may not be an option which Wikia's coders could implement with the current software.     • I'd say we have consensus for the third option (restrict new users only, everyone else can move as they see fit.)   • I don't know, I asked again on The central Wikia. It wouldn't have helped much this time, though: I think the person in question was using old sockpuppets which weren't flagged as "new users". —Silly Dan _(talk) 01:12, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
    • We already have restrictions on for new users (they can only move 2 pages per day), and I'd like to keep those in place. I'd also really like to have an image verification system so that, if people want to move pages, they have to enter a code which appears in an image.
