The result of the debate was adopt the guidelines. Green Tentacle (Talk) 01:53, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
On this wiki, there is a preponderance of good and featured articles concerning characters, with most other fields sorely lacking. As members of the Inquisitorius and other regular contributors to the good and featured articles are taking note of this, they are now branching out into other types of articles.
WookieeProject Aliens came up with a template for species articles, which was widely accepted without need for a CT or a Mofference vote, and can now be found in the Manual of Style. I propose that a similar set of guidelines be adopted for planet articles, which are likely to be common topics of reorganization and expansion in the future.
After consulting with users such as Lord Hydronium, who wrote two of our current featured planet articles, as well as Imperialles and StarNeptune, who are both members of the Inquisitorius and are currently working on planet articles themselves, I have come up with a guideline template for planet articles. I propose that this template be placed in the Manual of Style alongside the species article template as a guide for those who wish to create or expand planet articles of considerable length.—Graestan(This party's over) 04:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Proposed guideline template
Planet Articles
There are some guidelines for the organization of planet articles within the Wookieepedia. Ideally, they are organized into four main sections, with subsections and extra sections where appropriate:
- Description will include any information on the characteristics of the planet itself, such as its location, its geological trends, its climate and ecosystem, and native vegetation. Also, any non-sentient fauna is to be described here. The key is to give a general overview of the planet and its characteristics.
- Note: when a planet has particularly notable flora and fauna, an individual section can be created for such.
- History will cover all notable points in the planet's history. Individual periods and major events can receive subsections.
- Inhabitants includes a description of the planet's native or resident sentient species (where applicable) and any other notable inhabitants.
- Note: if the planetary government is notably unique or of particular import, an individual section on it may be added. Furthermore, if the economy of the planet plays a significant role, it can be given its own section. Planetary culture and religion, apart from species culture, may also play a large role, and could then receive a section of its own, as well.
- Locations is set aside for notable specific locations on the planet's surface or in orbit, such as cities, bases, geological formations, and orbital facilities.
Each of these four sections may be further subdivided as appropriate. Note: if anything in particular is of overwhelming significance concerning the planet, or a preponderance of information is available, a section of its own can be created.
Vote
I ask that before you vote, please note that these are simply guidelines. I noted that certain planets are deserving of special sections on particularly notable topics, a good example being the Hapes article currently under construction by StarNeptune. While I did change the wording and added notes to reflect such considerations, adherence to the template is almost completely optional.
