The result of the debate was only published, licensed images can be used within in-universe sections of articles for canonical subjects. -- Ozzel 21:15, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Per IRC. Since the official motto right now is that any screenshot or image that is licensed by any one of Lucas' businesses (Lucasfilm, Lucasarts, Dark Horse, etc.) is fair game here, we seem to run into a sticky situation concerning some images in the Dark Horse and art department. The question remains if we should be using art done by officially licensed artists that doesn't neccesiarly appear in the book but it does have some canonical standing.
Let me try to explain it better. The current situation relates to the Knights of the Old Republic comics. Right now, we are technically breaking the rules by using images that can only be found on the artists blog (Zayne Carrick, Raana Tey, and Jarael). While Zayne Carrick and Raana are the actual artist model sheets, Jaraels has a bit more of an "artsy" quality to it. So lets get this show on the road, shall we?
Edit: NOTE: This only applies to canon parts of an article. This does not include Behind the scenes and other such sections. If you wish to start something else about that, be my guest.
Option #1
No art that can only be found on artists blog and in unofficial locations at all. No exceptions.
- Shouldn't have it any other way. -- Ozzel 20:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify: This does not exclude images from an artist's site that have been officially published. And I'd also allow things such as individual characters isolated from a background, provided that it's the same as the version published in context. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 02:16, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Per Culator. We're a canon wiki. - Lord Hydronium 03:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- But can we still use the Aayla image? Thefourdotelipsis 03:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Per Culator, with the caveat that this rule should not apply to Bts sections or Real World articles, which by their nature extend beyond the canon. jSarek 05:24, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's a shame because I like the Jarael picture, but I have to agree with jSarek—limit them to behind the scenes and real world articles. Green Tentacle (Talk) 08:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

- Per jSarek, and therefore also per Culator. Gonk (Gonk!) 16:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's fanart, basically. If the artist have done official art or not is irrelevant. Charlii 21:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Option #2
Only allow the usage of unused covers and panels.
Option #3
Only allow model sheets done by the artist and unused covers and panels.

- I'm fine with allowing cut/concept art. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:00, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Option #4
If the licensed artist does regularly draw the character, anything goes.

Option #5
If the artist is a licensed with Lucas, then any character that is in Star Wars goes.
- If it's on their site or blog, then it's considered concept art. - JMAS 20:32, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
OK, as long as the images are treated as unofficial and only included in non-canon sections per Lord Hydronium below. -Fnlayson 04:23, 31 July 2007 (UTC)- Absolutely. This is only about using them in the article proper. I think you voted in the wrong place. -- Ozzel 04:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I guess, but the explanation at top reads like not allowing the images on the site. -Fnlayson 04:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry. Should have been more specific. I mean in canon parts. Obviously we would allow them in non-canon parts. --Redemption

- If they're licensed to draw Star Wars, then so they shall. By the virtue of only accepting canon information, this naturally precludes using art for characters that are non-canon, thus eliminating the fanon threat.--Goodwood 16:02, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

- It's a toss up for me between Option 4 and 5. But I'm gonna go with the looser number 5 because different artists are often hired to do characters that other artist have drawn as well. - JMAS 20:32, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think I found a new main image for Aayla Secura. It's by Adam Hughes. What do you guys think? -- Ozzel 20:39, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- BRILLIANT! -- Darth Culator (Talk) 02:16, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- I can see what you are trying to do. And it's the same reason why Princess Leia in her bikini isn't plastered all over her page why that wouldn't apply to this. Also, Adam Hughes isn't established at drawing Aayla Secura or Mace Windu so that would only prove a negative point towards option 5. —Unsigned comment by Redemption (talk • contribs)
- I should mention I have no problem with unofficial or non-canon art as long as it's marked as such and placed in the BTS. But non-canon art shouldn't go in the canon section. That seems kind of obvious to me. - Lord Hydronium 03:55, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
