The result of the debate was to fix the {{title}} template.–SentryTalk 03:34, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I've noticed lately that a lot of ship articles are getting their titles replaced with italicized ship names. I'm assuming that italics don't work normally as article titles, but the overwritten italics look horrible. Little bits of the original title will peek out from behind them along the bottom. Is there any way to make these work properly? Otherwise they should go. Havac 07:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Shipnames are conventionally italicized in English, so in any case, the template should not go. But it would be nice if it could be repaired. KEJ 07:13, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting, I haven't noticed this side-effect. Perhaps it is an issue relating to specific browser/screen resolution settings? -- beeurd talk 22:51, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- Check out Aggressor (Imperial I-class), Reprisal, Glory (Imperial-class), or basically any other ship with characters in it that extend beyond the bottom of the other letters (y, g, q, parentheses, etc) for an example of what I'm talking about. The bottom parts of the original, un-italicized characters remain visible. Havac 23:15, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I've only noticed it before for titles that take up two lines, but I do see now how it can also occur if you change your text size. -- Ozzel 01:50, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- That notice about wikis not being editable for a few hours that came up a while back screwed up all italicized titles, at least for me.--Darth Oblivion[[User talk:Darth Oblivion|Comlink]

- Yeah, I noticed this problem a while back. The glitch appears in IE and Opera, but not Firefox (The reason being that various browsers have different default text sizes). I think that I have a possible solution to the the problem, but I will have to do some testing… –SentryTalk 07:42, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I updated the title template, but it still needs some work. We really should combine the title and era templates because at the moment they don't play nice with each other.–SentryTalk 22:06, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- Hmm, I seem to be getting something totally different. It looks fine at first, but if i highlight it, I can see the automatic title appear behind the italicized title. It would seem that the template is not actually replacing the automatic title, but rather just coloring it white and pasting a new one over it. BTW, I'm using IE 6.0, XP SP2, 1280x1024 resolution, medium text size (although I tried all of them), and the default skin. – Brynn Alastayr 06:40, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
