I feel that the publishing era articles, namely Old Republic era, Rise of the Empire era, Rebellion era, New Republic era, New Jedi Order era, and Legacy era could do with a revamp. As it currently stands they're out of universe, but as a result all they are is a list of books, comics, games, etc. I think they could be more like Pre-Republic era, that is, an in-unverse summary of that time period. While we have individual articles on the events taking place, I think these era articles can be useful for a more macroscopic view, particularly in fields that don't fit in just one article, like technological developments or major social/political changes.
I'd like to know how people feel we should treat these eras as articles in general. Just out-of-universe, as they currently are? Just in-universe, with out of universe info listed in BtS and the current lists of books under "Appearances"? Or two articles, for example, Old Republic era and Old Republic era (publishing)?
This particularly would help in figuring out the role of Pre-Republic era in places like the main page. Since it's not a publishing era, it doesn't fit with the rest, as many have noted (and I agree). But using just the publishing eras, nothing covers that time period, which leaves something of a gap. However, if the other eras were in-universe, they would all fit together, thus covering the timeline entirely, but leaving no impression that Pre-Republic was an official publishing era.
The major objection I can see to this is that the publishing eras aren't in-universe, and therefore it makes no sense to treat them as such. The other is that Infinities is definitely not an in-universe designation, and treating all the eras as out of universe allows it to fit much better.
