Yet another addition to the Out-of-Universe Layout Guide. :P
So, the LG currently says that the Media section is optional and can be filled at the user's discretion, and only specifies a use when it comes to comics. I suggest that another example be added and, at CC's suggestion, the Media section be formatted as the following:
Articles on print and media narrative works
There are some guidelines for the organization of articles on published narrative works, including but not limited to films, TV shows, novels, comics, video games, television episodes, and RPG adventures—that is, works that would be listed in an in-universe article's "Appearances" section and which have not been canceled.
Each of these sections may be further subdivided if necessary.
[…]
- Media is a section with different uses for different types of articles.
- Articles on comic series make use of {{Prettytable}} to create a chart similar to this one.
- Articles on individual works such as novels include a cover gallery, if more than one cover exists.
- Articles on novels list the various editions of the work complete with ISBN numbers and publication dates.
- For television series, the Media section should be entitled Episodes and make use of a wikitable to list the series' seasons, giving information such as the air dates and number of episodes for each season.
- For individual television seasons, the Media section should also be entitled Episodes and should use a wikitable to display the title, air date, episode number, production number, and an image from the episode if applicable.
Basically, this codifies our use of the TCW-style episode tables, and also necessitates their placement between the Legacy and Credits sections. This also slighty modifies the LG's opening sentence and formats the Media section into a bullet list.

- Seems reasonable. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 05:33, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

class="wikitable"rather than the {{Prettytable}} hack. This is because inline CSS (which is what {{Prettytable}} supplies) is rarely a good idea, and if an unusual use case does require one-off inline CSS, that can be easily added with the wikitable class, whereas {{Prettytable}} would have to be substituted since you can't have twostyleattributes in the same element. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 04:51, February 14, 2014 (UTC)

Oppose
A TV series or TV season is not a "Published narrative work," which is what the Layout Guide in question is intended for. While I'm not specifically against incorporating this proposal (since we already do it), I'd like to see more of an effort to make a comprehensive Layout Guide for TV series/seasons, instead of making periodic amendments to the narrative work LG. CC7567 (talk) 15:39, February 13, 2014 (UTC)- It bears pointing out that the "Published narrative work" section states that it caters to "including but not limited to films..." In my opinion, a TV series is not any different than a film for our purposes. You're right that it's not strictly a "published narrative work" in the literal sense, but this section seems to be using that phrase as a catch-all term. Do you foresee a TV series layout being different than a film article? Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 15:44, February 13, 2014 (UTC)
- Now that I think about it, yeah, creating another LG just for TV series/seasons would be redundant. However, I'd like to see some minor aesthetic formatting changes to the "Media" section, since after this proposal it'll be a huge grouping of text that would be more accessible if it's organized in a bulleted list (including what's currently in the "Media" section).
