I think Wookieepedia should have a policy considering what to do in an emergency. Not just any dumb vandal who messes up one page and immediately gets blocked, im talking about expert hackers who know what they're doing. This probably won't happen ever, but just in case. DONT UNDERESTMATE WHAT SOME GUYS CAN DO! I think there should be a forum created immediately on Senate Hall if there was a large hacker attack and we were powerless to do anything. I think that there should at least be 10 users confirming this on Senate Hall and then they should follow certain guidelines pertaining what they should do. If you dont believe me, look at the list of blocked users. Theres bound to eventually one of those guys (or more) who is smart. Tell me your opinion Roron Corobb 8:39, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

If we really get hacked, there's really not much we can do other than revert to one of Wikia's backups. I believe backups are made every day, so we wouldn't lose much (though, admittedly, it would be quite a hassle). Wikia's technical staff would be the ones to respond in case of an emergency, anyways – like I said, there's very little we can do. RMF 17:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
  • I think we should have guidelines that people should follow so they can save some of the pages like if these guys find out how to screw them up so we really do have to type it all over again like if they delete a history section or something cause that stuff is posiible. One way to save them would be to temporarily move them to another page that they would never guess. Roron Corobb 14:46, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
If you're so inclined, you can make manual backup copies of the database by downloading the following link: http://starwars.wikia.com/dbdumps/pages_current.xml – I would note, however, that this database dump (as they are called) has only the current revisions of all articles; page histories are not included. Even so, it's around 96 MB, so don't try it on dial-up. :-) RMF 00:51, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
