I propose a code of conduct for Wookieepedians to follow. Comments and additions are welcome. StarNeptune 03:21, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Code of Conduct

  1. No personal attacks. This includes name calling, swearing at other users, harassing other users, or revealing another user's personal information without permission. Personal information is defined as anything not explicitly stated on the user's page here on the Wookieepedia.
  2. Edit disputes should be resolved on talk pages. It's up to you to determine whether to use user talk pages or the talk page of the article at the center of the dispute, but either way, keep the conversation civil and respectful. Failure to do will result in the admins getting involved.
  3. Obscenity (read: graphic sexual content) on talk pages is a no-no, and a good way to get banned.
  4. Any fanon or non Star Wars related articles will be killed on sight, and any user who repeatedly contributes fanon material to the wiki will be banned.
  5. Likewise, vandalism of any existing article will result in a long term ban.
  6. Spamming (if done intentionally) is also a ban-worthy offence.

Warning system

Personal attacks/edit disputes

  • First offence gets a verbal warning.
  • Second offences will be dealt with accordingly (i.e. a user that swore at another user gets a 24-48 hour ban to cool off).
  • Any offences after the second will result in longer bans each time. The length of the ban is determined by the admin and is based on the user's actions.

Vandalism/Obscenity

  • One verbal warning. Ban if warning is ignored.

Fanon/Spamming

  • One verbal warning. If the additions were not intentionally malicious (i.e. user didn't know that Xio Jade was fanon, or they had computer problems that made posts go through more than once), then revert/delete article. Ban if warning is ignored.

Should we make the posting of racist/sexist/negative comments liable to being banned for sometime or forever depending on how much damaged they caused? Such bigoted attittudes have no place on Wookieepedia which should be free of them. MyNz 7:17, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Racist, sexist and all other "politically incorrect" and malign comments should, along with personal attacks, be liable to permanent bans. Besides personal disputes should be kept off the articles' talk pages and be restricted to the users' talk pages. KEJ 09:54, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Not entirely permanent depending on the situation. If they are newcomers give them a chance. But if they do it again, ban them. Would it be a good idea in the Behind the Scenes section of some articles to include real world governments, situations or places they were based on.

For example:

I agree with you on the BTS point insofar as the parallels can be documented as intentional, but I think that's not a relevant issue in this forum which is about the code of conduct. But I think it's a good idea which should be discussed in a more relevant forum. As regards the code of conduct and banning, I think that racist and sexist and similar malicious comments or attacks should prompt an if not permanent then very long ban even to newcomers. I mean whether you are a newcomer or not, it would be common sense to know that you shouldn't attack people with racist, sexist or similar malicious comments. KEJ 12:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
