The result of the debate was use {{TCW}} to list episodes of The Clone Wars by in-universe chronology, don't list the series as a whole in appearances, don't use the template for other Clone Wars related stuff. Green Tentacle (Talk) 19:08, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Order of appearances
I encountered this issue while updating appearances from the new Clone Wars episodes. Currently the most articles' appearances sections list the new episodes like:
The problem is, when listing the appearances chronologically, this system doesn't work. With each episode preceeded by a new issue of The Clone Wars (web comics), we should list them instead like:
Therefore Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) by itself should not be listed in appearance section at all - only the episodes themselves. Any objections? Mauser 10:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- That seems like a reasonable proposition, and in line with how we do things already. For example, we don't group all of the issues of Republic together in Quinlan Vos's article, because there's a lot of things between them in the timeline. -LtNOWIS 19:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah. I think the link to the generic TV series should go. --Eyrezer 19:11, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

- Agreed—and, I might add, this should probably be applied to the other three TV series as well. Thefourdotelipsis 08:42, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't think we need a vote unless someone is going to come out and disagree on here. There's no way to have it the previous way and still maintain the chronological ordering that is policy. Havac 20:15, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hows about a template? It would keep the name of the show there but allow episodes to be split up, and it would always make sure the episodes are in quotes. (And if we like it, we can do the same for the other 3 TV series). Like so:
- We could also add episode numbers in there, and perhaps season numbers. Thoughts? -- Ozzel 21:13, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think Ozzel's got the right idea. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 23:02, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Would it be possible to make a template that could also be used for Episode Guides? --Eyrezer 03:09, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
I think the template is a great idea and we should make simiiar templates for other TV series as well. By the way, should the new Holonet News be present as a link to Starwars.com, or as an interlink to the related article?

Personally I am for the second option. Mauser 04:27, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Here's an alternate TCW logo
, where the words "Clone Wars" are larger, and where it's almost a moot point with such a small icon, considering what this template is for, I thought I'd throw it out there for consideration for Template:TCW. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 14:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)- I prefer Ozzel's logo, which is more easier to read, because the letters are on the black background. On your version the colors of letters and background are almost identical. Mauser 14:40, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, on second look, I agree. Nevermind. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 14:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

- With regard to the podcasts, there should be a link to our article on it as opposed to the actual page. --Eyrezer 15:26, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Expanding for other analogous sources
I wonder if we could create a template that works for all articles relating to the Clone Wars project. As the thumbnail image already links directly to the Clone Wars tv page, could we not eliminate the text link and just have the image? This would function similarly to our Living Force template, which can be bee in action here. How would this look:
- {{|Ambush}}
*{{|TCW Episode Guide: Ambush}}
*{{|HoloNet News — A Galaxy Divided}}
*{{|The Clone Wars: Prelude}}
- --Eyrezer 15:24, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 15:45, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think that the image probably should not link to anything, leaving only the text link active. I also think that the template should be used for the episodes only, not for all new TCW material in general. The whole point of having the template is to quickly identify the type of a particular appearance, in this case - TCW episodes. While Holonet News, The Clone Wars webcomics, comics and digests all can be identified by part of its title, the episodes themselves need an additional template. Also note that this should not be a universal policy for everything, since all comics and most book articles have the name of the series in its full title and the rest of books and videogames are well known. The short stories are varied by origin, so only specific types of appearances, like the Living Force, needs a template to separate them from others. I still encourage a similiar template for Droids, Ewoks and Clone Wars though. Mauser 16:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Opening sequence
Okay, here's another issue. As you can see, during the narrator's opening sequence short scenes from previous episodes, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars (film), and even upcoming episodes are shown. For example, the opening sequence of Ambush includes such things as Malevolence, Battle of Abregado, Abregado system, Padme Amidala, Onaconda Farr, Battle of Teth, Vulture droid starfighters, Jabba's Palace, Jawa, Arcona, Bith, Rodian, V-19 Torrent starfighters, Palpatine, Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Coruscant - which do not appear in the episode itself. Since the article for the movie includes Kit Fisto, Nute Gunray and Grievous in the appearances sections, all these thing should be listed as well. But for editorial purposes I suggets we treat them all as flashbacks, even if the scenes shown are actually not from previous, but from upcoming episodes. We know that Ambush was indented to be shown later in the series, that's why it includes scenes from Rising Malevolence and other not yet shown episodes. I suggest we either make a flash-forward template (any Lost fans here?) or treat them as flashback nevertheless. Suggestions? Mauser 18:02, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think this is a good idea --Jinzler 21:35, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Flashbacks might work, but technically is that considered the IU portion of the program? -- Riffsyphon1024 00:13, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely. It's like "Rebel starships, striking from the Hidden Base, have won their first battle against the Galactic Empire". Mauser 02:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Holonet Podcast
- There is another issue with "The Clone Wars" appearances. Some appearances for the HoloNet News — A Galaxy Divided link to the article for that, while others (like the one on the Nasdra Magrody article) link to the actual podcast. I'm guessing that they should link to the article, but I would like to confirm this --Jinzler 21:14, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Right now (as you can see in some of the talk up the screen), there's some slight debate about this, but I'm hoping we'll see a template with space for both in it. jSarek 21:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Summarize and vote
I think it's time to summarize all decisions and vote for a decent policy update:
- The appearances from Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) episodes are to be listed in order of in-universe chronology, using Template:TCW.
- Template:TCW should not be used for any The Clone Wars matherial other than the TV episodes themselves (such as Episode Guides, Holonet Podcasts and webcomics).
- Only apperances from individual episodes are to be included. They are not to be grouped together under the Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) line, which should not be listed as an appearance at all.
- The appearances from the opening Narrator's sequence are to be considered flashbacks for editorial purposes, both for Star Wars: The Clone Wars (film) and TV series.
- The new Holonet News audio podcast should be listed in appearances section as an interlink to the related artcile, not to the podcast on Starwars.com itself.
- Only if a significant number of podcasts becomes available, should they be listed using a new, yet-to-be-created template. As currently there is only one podcast available and none were released for episodes 3-6, this is as yet unneccessary.Mauser 04:12, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well no.2 has hardly been decided. Atm, it's against what you've got here and only one for. --Eyrezer 17:35, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Generally good, but I would prefer a separate message for rule 4, like (Appear(s) is opening sequence). SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 06:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- That would be a very specific unlike our usual Template:Flash, Template:Ghost and Template:Hologram, which can be applied to any source. Besides, when you look at the indented order of the episodes, it is clear that all opening sequences only use footage from the episodes which were supposed to be shown earlier.
