It was brought to my attention that based on the ruling from this Mofference, it states only that leaks and rumors can't be discussed in our #spoilers channel. That means technically we could share those leaks and rumors in other channels and it wouldn't be against our rules.
Since the intention of the original proposal was to ban all talk for leaks and rumors from our Discord, this CT proposes to create the eighth rule for our Discord server. This rule would be added to the #info channel in the Discord and to the Rules section of Wookieepedia:Discord.
The rule would be following:
- 8. Rumors and leaks are not allowed on the server
This is nothing new, and it just codifies something that we already enforce since the Mofference.

Oppose
- I had a think and I'm going to oppose because I feel like we could potentially have an opt-in channel dedicated to Rumours/Leaks AND Spoilers. Separate from the spoilers channel as well so those who want to discuss such matters, can. Manoof (he/him/his) (talk) 11:57, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
In case anyone wants further information about what's a leak or a rumor. Both are already defined in Wookieepedia:Spoilers: Anything that hasn't been released by official outlets, such as StarWars.com press releases or exclusive feature stories in outlets like Entertainment Weekly and Vanity Fair, where Lucasfilm or an official licensee is expressly providing the information. —Unsigned comment by DarthRuiz30 (talk • contribs)
I understand why we don't want to source information on the Wook to leaks or rumors, but what's the argument for banning merely talking about it on Discord? Stake black msg 02:42, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- The reason for the rule in the first place was because the large amount of Mandalorian leaks kinda spoiled aspects of Season 2 for a bunch of editors who weren't wanting to see leaks. Braha'tok enthusiast Hello there 10:30, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Isn't that what the #spoilers server is for? People who don't mind having the plot spoiled. Stake black msg 12:21, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
