- "The pictures you've been drawing with the markers your caregiver gave you. You like drawing birds and flashflies."
- ―Mitth'raw'nuruodo notes Che'ri's flashfly drawings
Flashflies were a type of creature capable of flight.[1] Around 19 BBY,[2] the Chiss sky-walker Che'ri drew pictures of flashflies and birds with markers. Based on this and the fact that Che'ri drew landscapes as seen from above, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo deduced that the sky-walker wanted to learn how to fly. Che'ri claimed that Thrawn was wrong, remarking that children drew flashflies because they were pretty, but ultimately admitted she wanted to fly.[1] Fireflies hatch from cocoons.[3]
Behind the scenes
Flashflies were first mentioned in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, which was written by Timothy Zahn.[1]
