A flame jar[2] was an improvised weapon that consisted of a jar or bottle half-filled with liquid and capped with a cloth. In 2 BBY, the Ghorman Front member Dilan handed out several flame jars during the protest in Ghorman's Palmo Plaza that would become known as the Ghorman Massacre. After the Galactic Empire opened fire on the largely unarmed crowd, Dilan threw a flame jar at a group of Imperials that exploded in flames, and the rebel was shot in the gut immediately afterward.[1]
Behind the scenes
Flame jars appeared in the eighth episode of second season of the live-action series Star Wars: Andor[1] on May 6, 2025.[3] They were identified as flame jars by the episode's English language audio description released on Disney+. In the real world, they are known as Molotov cocktails.
