In 0 ABY,[5] the enforcer of the Galactic Empire, Darth Vader launched the first attack on the Son-tuul Pride on the jungle planet Son-tuul. Imperial forces tracked an Twi'lek smuggler to the Pride's den, storming the base with stormtroopers. Although the Pride's leader, a Rodian, released a large horned beast on the Imperial forces, he was nonetheless killed with the rest of the group. In the aftermath, stormtroopers opened a vault to discover a hoard of credits that had been amassed over many years, which Vader ordered them to confiscate.[6]

After, Vader met with the Rodian's Hutt competitor Sutha, who served Jabba the Hutt. Vader and Sutha agreed upon a mutually beneficial relationship between the Empire and the Hutt Cartel, with the Empire eliminating competitors like the Son-tuul Pride to open up new markets in return for the Hutts supplying the Empire.[6]
