Fireheads, also known as Rhinnalian fireheads, were one of the strangest lifeforms on the planet Rhinnal. This nimble creatures was a limbed fish native to the frozen polar regions of the planet, and could be found on the surface of the Zirfan glacier, where tenticulons hunted them. They tunneled through glaciers by using the heat that emanated from a knobby growth on their upper jaw, which smoldered like a nubbin of molten lava. This same growth was also used to kill prey. A school of fireheads would hunt by ramming a larger creature, burning holes into its body, and then nibbling at the floating carcass.[2] These creatures served as sources of both heat and food for the native Rhinnalians.[1]
The population of Rhinnalian fireheads were among the millions of aquatic creatures living in the Royal Icqui Aquaria on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant.[2]
Behind the scenes
Fireheads were first introduced in Coruscant and the Core Worlds, a sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, published by Wizards of the Coast on January 3, 2003. The sourcebook offered players several adventure hooks for their home campaigns. One such scenario, titled «Frozen in Time», pits a group of players against fireheads and tenticulons.
