A fire gnat was a type of gnat.[1] In 33 BBY,[2] when Jedi Master Depa Billaba threatened the pirate Zilastra after having been imprisoned by her in brutal conditions, Zilastra was unconvinced, assessing that Billaba could not even swat a fire gnat in her state.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, fire gnats were mentioned in The Living Force, a 2024 novel by John Jackson Miller.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, fire gnats debuted in the 1998 novel Trouble on Cloud City, written by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta as the thirteenth installment in the Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights series.[3]
