"A lonyuip. They once grew quite profusely here on Coruscant, but that was long before the city grew to the size it is. Now most of them are found in museums and botanical gardens."
―Yaddle[1]

Lonyuip was a type of bright blue plant with small green flowers that once grew in abundance on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant prior to Republic City's growth in size by 160 BBY. Jedi Master Yaddle kept a lonyuip in her living quarters within the Jedi Temple on Coruscant by around that year. While Jedi Knight Indara visited her quarters around 160 BBY, Yaddle tended to the plant.

Description

Lonyuip was a type of bright blue plant with small green flowers. It once grew in abundance on[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant prior to Republic City's growth in size[1] by 160 BBY.[3]

History

Yaddle kept a lonyuip in her quarters at the Jedi Temple.

Yaddle kept a lonyuip in her quarters at the Jedi Temple.

By around 160 BBY,[3] lonyuips were mostly found in museums and botanical gardens.[1] Around that year,[3] Yaddle, a Jedi Master of the Jedi Order, kept many plants around her living quarters in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Among those plants was a lonyuip on a shelf.[1]

When Jedi Knight Indara—who had just returned from a mission orchestrated by Yaddle after a year abstaining from such activities—visited the Jedi Master's quarters, she eyed the plant and felt it was strange, yet pretty. Yaddle, who was tending to the lonyuip, noticed Indara's curiosity and explained the plant's history on Coruscant. After Yaddle sprayed the plant with a mister, she spoke directly to Indara in stating that some flowers could only bloom while in captivity, but that others thrived in unexpected places. In that moment, Indara felt less like the a lonyuip and more like the spiky phloxos in the dark corner of Yaddle's quarters.[1]

Behind the scenes

A lonyuip appeared in The Acolyte: Wayseeker, a 2025 novel written by Justina Ireland.[1]

Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide establishes that Indara is fifty-four years old in The Acolyte and also states that she is twenty-six years old during the events of The Acolyte: Wayseeker. Therefore, the events of Wayseeker must take place around 160 BBY.
